@triston27352 жыл бұрын
Didn’t cover mods that well for performance. For those looking for a 5.0 s550 here is what you need to know about performance mods. 2015-2017 have the gen 2 coyote. 2018-current have the gen 3 coyote. Gen 3 added direct inject (alongside the port injection) and a higher compression ration. 2018+ has 10 speed auto, 2015-2017 has 6 speed auto. The s550 has the mt82 manual transmission but 2018+ has a revised version. The gen3 is a way better N/A car than the gen2. The gen3 with the direct injection and higher compression means you can get 50+hp mod for mod over the gen2. A gen 2 with an intake, ported 2018 intake manifold, headers, and e85 will make around 450 whp. A gen3 with headers, intake and e85 could see 500+ whp. The 10 speed auto is crazy good, and if your looking to go as fast as possible N/A or with some boost the 10 speed is your best bet. A stock 10 speed auto can keep up with a fbo 6 speed auto. Now for your mods. You have your basic cai, headers, and intake manifold. E85 is also available to run with just a tune. Cai don’t do much but getting headers and upgrading the manifold (especially on 15-17 cars) can get you a good amount of power. Boosting your car is always an option. Gen 2 coyotes are better for boost. When you boost a coyote always upgrade oil pump gears and crank sprockets. Single turbo, dual turbo, PD superchargers, and centri superchargers are all good options. With just oil pump gears and crank sprocket you could make 700+whp reliably. People have even made 900+whp on the stock engine. When you start making serious power you will need to upgrade driveshaft and maybe half shaft if doing hard launches. You may also need to build the transmission and or torque converter. I hope this helps some people with a basic rundown.

Find myself in a funny spot with my 21 Gt pp1. Want to target around 600 hp to be similiar to my F type, certainly misses the instant urgentt madness and responsiveness. But the jag self destruction. 600 a bit much to get NA but any blower shoots me higher and probably upgrading more things than I want to trying to add power cost effectively. need to try e85 tune, then LTH and see how I feel. my reading seems to show manifold and Cai pretty inconsequential on the gen 3 unless part of a package searching for those big numbers with a big turbo/ super

I would always recommend people do this 6-speed manual over the 10 speed just because it's way more fun and satisfying. With the newer technology the clutch feels amazing and the shifter is buttery smooth and they even have an option for an auto rev match if you suck at that. The manual is just way better because a mustang is not really a mustang with an automatic honestly (mainly because the best mustangs ever in history were manuals like the buliitt mustang, the 13 and 14 GT500, and the 03 and 04 Terminator cobra and mach 1).

After owning a 5.0, I know exactly why people crash their mustangs when pulling out. The problem is they think that if they just flood it and go, it will be fine, the problem is the traction control always, always, kicks in and when the rears hook back up, they don’t hook evenly and they kick the car to either side, and if you don’t get off throttle it’s over, you snap oversteer and crash it.

@@99savage1 so the s197 and prior smacked crowds cause the solid rear axel locks you sideways even if you have traction control off, if you turn traction control off in the s550, from my experience it will spin non stop bu the lsd keeps you straight even while spinning. In the s550 if you keep the traction control on, you start to slip and the car turns sideways which is when the tc kicks in and you hook back up but you're pointing at a wall when it hooks so you snap it back and end up crashing either way.

I also have black louvers on the back and side quarter windows. Thats really all the mods you really need on the S550 except maybe a good aftermarket short throw shifter, better clutch, and upgraded brakes, which I may still do. But I dont track the car and don't plan on it. It's my daily driver and I love just running twisty roads and doing highway pulls. It's at a point right now where on a hard pull from a stop I can literally feel the front end get lighter all the way through the pull. And that's basically stock with just with a 93 octane tune. I could imagine how much more powerful it would be with headers and a supercharger or turbos. The power these little 302s are putting out is ridiculous. I'm old enough to remember when getting 1 horsepower per cubic inch was the goal. Now a stock 302 is putting out 465 hp and with some bolt ons you can double that. Back in my younger days the 80s GT foxbody was putting out 225 hp and we thought that was badass. Times have definitely changed

Find a good tuner. I added a 3.0 whipple stage 2 supercharger and it was making 800hp but due to a lot of hurdles and trips to different tuning shops I stripped it due to poor tuning. Ended up selling and got a new bronco,vowed to never upgrade where tuning is required.

@@24arevans I got the irs support kit from Steeda. They’re the go to for anything suspension related for mustangs. They’re like Spoon but for mustangs. The kit came with Support bushing inserts, brackets that connect the irs to the chassis, a choice of endlinks for either drag or track setups(I got the track set) and these poly plastic type covers for the bolts that go into the irs because I was shocked to see that the bolt isn’t a tight fit into the chassis, there’s like a 1/8 or so of wiggle room around the bolt. Half true, don't put a big ass cold air kit on them that's increases MAF size without a tune, it'll run like crap. These cars have a LOT of technology in them and can be a bit fussy, but if you're modding them the first thing you should do is a GOOD tune if you want performance.
