Running with a sensitive lower back (l4-l5 or l5-S1 disc area) can be miserable.
Most doctors will tell you to give it up and that it's just "destroying" the discs in your back.
This couldn't be any further from the truth. In fact, there is more current research supporting the POSITIVE impacts running can have on a disc injury over time.

Dealing with sciatica from a disc herniation since last Nov. The pills helped me get thru my 2nd marathon and 2nd ultra. I thought I was recovered until I hurt myself again this may, but the pain was a lot worse. I miss all the running I used to be able to. Sucks!

I've been diagnosed with spinal stenosis and facet joint issues. I'm having the 1st part of the RFA procedure Monday. No leg pain with this. Center/lower back has been an issue for many years, more recently there's pain on my far left side just below the belt line. I don't know if this procedure will address that or not but we're starting with the lower back. I want to take the next year to work on my back and get into shape again (I'm 65). Right now I'm not able to walk a block without a lot of pain and I've just fallen apart in the last year or so. Did PT last year to no avail because I think everybody automatically assumes sciatica is the issue but again, no leg pain from this (but leg pain due to a knee replacement 3 years ago). I see tons of videos saying do this, then the next one says no, do that. What would be a simple routine for working on facet joint issues that might help heal it rather than just wait a year for the next nerve burning?

I just got released full duty after a spinal fusion, I’m trying to get back into running and Muay Thai. Still kind of feel some discomfort doing it, but I’m trying to go slow at the moment. I’m about seven months post op at the moment.

Dude I'm in a similar situation! I train and compete muay Thai and of course it involves running and I haven't been able to return in like a year 😭 it's killing me. I haven't gotten a fusion

I have a l4 l5 herniation. I can still box but had to give up high kicks. They just always seem to flair up my back pain.
