Pretty much accurate with your assessment. One day at a time. Never give up. I had to realize to get better I had to stop lifting heavy. It sucks but the nerve pain got worse due to rehabilitation. For me certain things make pain worse. Working out and yoga helps me but that’s just one of many possible things to do. Good luck to you all. Chronic pain sucks! But, try to keep going! 👍🏾

I love the Farmers carry, I held a 50lb dumbell in each hand for four circuits of 50 yards each(with a rest between). Very underrated exercise yet simple, looks a lot easier than it is! It's really a modified deadlift.

Too bad these won’t work. I’ve been dealing with sciatica for 12 years and have tried just about everything. So now, I’ve stopped doing anything and just accept the nerve pain.

Ever consider having a spinal cord stimulator inplant? I had 2 of them in my back from 2014 and 2015. One of them was for sciatic nerve pain. It helped a lot. I’m looking to get the batteries replaced as they need replaced after 9-10 years just to have as a tool to help manage my sciatic flares a little better because every time my spine gets aggravated it puts me back 2 weeks

I can totally relate to everything you have said. Not being able to sit, having to try and eat meals on all 4's, lying on the floor to try and reset, not being able to put on my socks, not being able to sit in a car- the list of bulging disk limitations is endless! So glad you have made progress, I too have just got to a point where I can notice real progress.

This is the one - only up to the elbows is all you need - it worked for me plus combined with the Bird Dog exercise - key for me is stop sitting down if you can - and when you feel pain again get back down to your stomach - take those deep breaths and relax - I am still in recovery but getting better every day👍

Dealing with sciatica from a disc herniation since last Nov. The pills helped me get thru my 2nd marathon and 2nd ultra. I thought I was recovered until I hurt myself again this may, but the pain was a lot worse. I miss all the running I used to be able to. Sucks!

Good advice, with the exception of any hamstring work, so no good mornings, d.lifts or rdls. Bending causes flexion which will compress the spine. Also hamstring work can activate the sciatic nerve causing pain within the disc.

I've not had surgery yet, but it is on the horizon. I can only do PT in a therapy pool and have to stop if I feel pain. Fibro amplifies everything. I was finally feeling actual sore muscles but regressed after another fall. My mom is having surgery soon, so I'll be sure to share this.

Love this video. When you mentioned compression sitting on a bench with weights it reminded me of when I ruptured or herniated my L4/L5 Disc. I could not walk or stand for more than about 20 seconds. Not because my muscles were weak but because the nerve being pressed by the disc just shut down everything. After waking up from discectomy surgery where that disc was removed off the nerve, I could walk normal again.

Stop stretching your spine! Stop stretching altogether for now. Ice your back. No heat. Rest. Keep a log of what hurts your back. Don't sit in chairs or lay in beds that aggravate it. De-flame the tissue. Slowly introduce exercise, down the road.
