@@sweaty_matt121 I aimed for at least 2-3x weekly. If you’re trying to release tension, stretching the back multiple times a week is great. For the strengthening aspect, I’d suggest to slowly increase the amount of sets done per week rather the amount of days.

for help use wrist straps used in weightlifting to help with grip.
@MDR2657
@MDR2657 8 ай бұрын
I second the wrist wraps comment. Your grip will give out before any of your muscles, Idc how overweight you are. 👍 And if you're doing this to build some basic strength, just do it every day, as much as you can each day. If your muscles aren't used to it, it'll be hard - but the muscles used in this will recover daily and the more frequent you do it the faster you will adjust.

I shattered my shoulder in a motorcycle accident 10 years ago. Ive had extremely limited ability to reach overhead since then. But a few months ago i started hanging semi regularly. It was extremely painful at first and i couldn't do it for more than a few seconds, but i can hang for over a minute now and the difference it's made in my ability to reach overhead has been tremendous.

I had some really bad shoulder issues that seem to be going away since I've gotten a pull-up bar. Seems like pretty solid advice! Just get one of those things that clamps around a door frame (the kind that gets tighter when you hang, not the kind that fastens like a shower rod between the two sides, that kind will come off and injure you).

Big fan of both you guys. I've hanged on the bar at my independent gym, regularly over the years. I've now got to the point I my feet touch the floor. (Heals and toes!) I can't believe it.

Ruined my right shoulder and needed surgery until I started hanging 6 months ago. I can reach up behind my back again. No bullshit
