Weather seal is my go-to solution. I’ve been doing it for years and you can get creative with it. I’ve succeeded in getting a 7-3/8 cap to fit satisfactorily to my 1/8 head (of course that’s with a 7/8” thickness. The steam method I learned from your videos and it works exceptionally. Anyone who does that should get satisfactory results. These shorts are great Doug. It’s could to get a cap maintenance reminder video. Very helpful.

Thanks for the video. Does the process of shrinking the cap work better with wool? I have an Ebbets Field flannel cap that I purchased that needs to be shrunk. Also, if you wear the cap and sweat in it does that have any affect on the size of the cap to the shape of your head? thanks!

Yes, you will definitely be able to shrink wool caps better than polyester. With sweat and heat, I think that does affect a cap over the long term when you do it repeatedly, but I've not noticed any difference after I've worn one on a particularly hot and sweaty day (even wool). I'm trying to shrink mine but it's one of the heritage editions with the leather size band and am afraid to ruin the leather

I would definitely avoid any heat shrink methods and just focus on the second technique of inserting filler material like the weatherstrip I used here, thanks.
