Can you recommend your favorite website for Detroit Tiger fitteds? I’m on the hunt for a unique away cap.

There's not always a consistent source of Tigers customs, but I've had the best luck with Hat Heaven (.com) - I'd recommend signing up for their newsletter to see their releases when they happen, thanks.

I’ve never been a fan of stretch fit caps in any context. Good review, I’m passing on these and sticking with the traditional 5950s.

Can you make a comparison video with a baseball cap from the 50’s and 60’s to a hat from today?
@dreinthe6165 күн бұрын
I would if I had access to a sample or two of that vintage of cap, but up 'til now I've only relied on the companies that replicate older methods of construction - like Ebbets Field Flannels, thanks for the request.

My doubt: is a new era cap 100% poly good to use in summer? Hope you can help me, thanks.
@dreinthe61614 күн бұрын
It's the whole reason MLB went to poly in 2007... originally meant to be more durable and shrink resistant. If you get past the fact that wearing a hat in the summer will already make things a little warmer, then its a fine choice. Although I will note that I've switched mostly to mesh-backed Fitteds and other materials for summer caps (like the 9Seventy Performance model)... thanks.

Most 59Fifty caps look ridiculous on me. The Low Profile fits me so much better. But the other day, I bought two that I regret not returning. They look too high and pointy seen from up front, lacking width in the middle of the front. No steaming and shaping technique helped. If I could, I’d buy my New Era caps only in physical stores. But in the Netherlands, there’s just not that much choice. I’d also want to buy some MLB hats from Nike. But they’re only readily available in the US. I do have two simple Nike Club hats - one unstructured, the other structured and stretchy. The quality is amazing. I especially like the stretchy one, including its silhouette.
@dreinthe61619 күн бұрын
I hear you... buying in store is the best way to get the fit you want. And I'd agree - I posted a video review for a Nike cap (Classic99 model, stretch fit) - and it was a great looking cap with excellent comfort and fit. Thanks for the comments.

Would you say a cotton golfer feels better than a polyester golfer?
@dreinthe61619 күн бұрын
Ever so slightly... but I really don't notice that much of a difference if the sweatbands are similar.

@dreinthe61619 күн бұрын
I've got many, most of them custom from either Hat Club or Hat Heaven (online vendors)... including a 1918 logo, 1962 logo, inverted colors on the walking Tiger, etc.. I would recommend signing up for newsletters or IG feeds from some of those vendors to see when they release things like that, thanks.

What if the crease is "baked in" to the hat? I steamed my hat for 20 minutes but the crease returned.
@dreinthe61619 күн бұрын
Could be the way it's in the plastic sizing and the sweatband area... that's where I might recommend a good old flat iron on the front of an ironing board. But put a layer between the cap and your iron (a t-shirt or cloth napkin) so that you don't singe it and give the cap "shine" in the area.
@Dr_Manhattan_Phd19 күн бұрын
@dreinthe616 Alright, I'll give that a try, thanks.

How do you flatten the crown so it can fit like a dad cap?
@dreinthe61619 күн бұрын
It's pretty tough - since dad caps use less material in the crown panels, they can get that really low silhouette easily. These low profiles have more material, and it has to go "somewhere" to look smaller - and there's just not any easy ways to hide it and lower the crown.
@IndianaNaturalDogАй бұрын
Can you recommend a hat that is the same style as these but has a higher crown?
@dreinthe61619 күн бұрын
Well, these are unstructured, so if the crown goes higher it will just collapse anyway. The only thing I can really think of is when New Era releases the 59Fifty as a "retro crown" which means they skip the structure of the buckram in a higher crown. That, plus most of the caps from Ebbets Field Flannels have this kind of styling, but with more generous volume in their unstructured crowns, thx.

Nice review the 9 seventy dont look that bad i just wonder which is more comfortable sweatband wise i feel like electric sweatband well lose its strength after a while while the 59FIFTY sweatbands well last much longer and be more comfortable for your skin since its made out of cotton i also notice on the 9seventys the logo it seems to be more smaller then 59FIFTY hats
@dreinthe61619 күн бұрын
Yep, I agree the 59Fifty sweatband is probably the better choice for longevity and durability.

How do you fix the bend in the bill. I want my bill straight
@dreinthe616Ай бұрын
Probably best with a regular flat clothes iron - start with a lower heat setting and work your way up... and use a thin layer over the visor so you don't singe the fabric and make it shiny, thx.

Why did new era have to mess up the 5950? My wool MLB hats from the early 00s are perfect. I can’t find anything that fits like them.
@elliotspencer1384Ай бұрын
At last! Another video. 👍 for me I don’t see the appeal of the snapback stretch fit. I have checked them out. I can only see them serving individuals with large head sizes.. to get a snug fit the small notches have to be used. I share your view on the appearance of caps, looking like a chef hat as well, Doug. I tried to correct it using the steam method I learned from your earliest videos. it was to no avail. The 970 exemplifies in my opinion that every style cannot be hybridized.

@gfb6745Ай бұрын
Big man, you need to do a video for shaping the old-school 96 starter caps (shockwave, flame, big logo etc). They're old now, almost antiques in a way, but would be good to have some help to shape them without damaging them, or the use of starch.

i bought a 7 3/8 hat too tight then i bought a 7 1/2 still too tight n the crowns on both fitteds are insanely puffy i might just give up on fitteds at this point can never find one that i like n fits me :/

@TRON0314Ай бұрын
Never knew it was a syndrome that was noticed, just thought it was something I didn't like. Chef Hat. Glad it has a name I can use. That being said I almost exclusively wear 9Fifty snapbacks because of my headshape. So It's usually pretty loose and doesn't happen.
@art_of_hopeАй бұрын
Interesting. My 9Seventy doesn't do this. It must be unique to the shape of one's head or another sad result of poor New Era quality control. Regardless, that's a bummer.
@dreinthe616Ай бұрын
You are right on... I think it's the cap I got, and is subject to the usual variation that happens with NE caps... actually did a whole video about how the sizes vary, you can find it at my channel ICYI, thanks.

Excellent review. I'm a 59FIFTY guy, just can't get into mesh or snapbacks. I have some 59FIFTY designs with the wide crown, even with the flat bill. It's unfixable and essentially unwearable.
@dreinthe616Ай бұрын
Yeah, I've tried heating and holding those convex curves outward while the buckram cools, but it just doesn't change that much because of the way it is constructed and stitched in place.
@SippinSoda71Ай бұрын
I’m one of those who requested you reviewing the 9Seventy! Great to see. Maybe the mushrooming would be a little less conspicuous with panels in the same color and material. The white side panels now serve as a contrasting background.
@dreinthe616Ай бұрын
You may be correct on that, and I'm pretty sure a full cap black or navy blue would draw much less attention to that problem.
