The title `Restoration Couple` does not lend itself to the average joe, carrying out basic DIY tasks, but that`s not really where it`s audience lies. It will grow, as it captures the van conversion and property renovation audience. But these projects are a financial and lifestyle investment, far more than a bit of weekend DIY to save a few quid. Quality over quantity anyway, at least it attracts the right people, without the usual KZbin moronic comments!

It's because people want to see it all done in 3 minutes like he says at the end of the video. People reeeealy enjoy before and after videos and van tours. They like seeing it all finished, and might not realize how hard and time consuming it really is.

I left it running for an hour with polar control on the lowest setting, but nothing happened. Do you know what temperatures the different levels are set for?

It’s a thermostat. So if on the coldest it may just never reach that low so will stay on. I think it is more intended so that it can be set to kick in when too warm in the van, e.g throughout the night.

Please tell me the whole fan hasn't got to be dismantled from outside?

hello, loving this channel, so useful and easy to follow! Do you find that Fiamma whistles when you drive? Or how is the noise when you're stationary and it's moving? Is there a point in having the heki mini for anything other than light if you have this Fiamma for ventilation? Thank so much!
@TheRestorationCouple

No whistle. Heki lets in 2 or 3 times more light but also handy for additional air flow above beds.

Hi Tim, what’s your thoughts on the amount of light let in on the fiamma!! I have been considering exactly the same as you, fiamma turbo and heiki on the back but was wondering what sort of light a fiamma on the back would be like with no fan!! Appreciate your thoughts on this!!
@TheRestorationCouple
@TheRestorationCouple 6 жыл бұрын
The fan unit blocks some light and the Fiamma is also slightly tinted. I would guess it’s around half the light so quite different, the fanless version may be brighter. I prefer the lower profile of fiamma when you look at the side of van as the heki are quite a bit taller.

Help please! I fitted this same vent a few days ago on my Transit. The ribs on the transit roof are awkwardly spaced for this fan meaning the lips where the vent screws down overhang the high points of the roof by around 1cm. This meant there was a gap under the lip where my screws went into the van roof. In hindsight I would have positioned the fan differently to avoid this situation, but I had a small window of opportunity due to weather so cut the hole in the roof and cracked on thinking I could just pack the gaps with sealant. It rained a bit the first night after I did it and there were no leaks, all was good. However after heavy rain last night I noticed my wooden frame was soggy in one corner and there were a couple of drops of water on the floor. I'm now panicking as the weather is forecast to be wet this week and I have no idea how to fix it. I used a Sikaflex alternative (Puraflex 40) to secure and seal the fan so I'm assuming that now it's in, it's not coming out. I can only assume the water is making it's way in through one of the screw holes somehow, but I have no idea how to fix this. Any help would be very much appreciated! Thanks in advance
@chatteyj
@chatteyj 4 жыл бұрын
Did you fix it? I have had problems with mine leaking on my transit roof (different fan to yours) and after removing it a lot the screws were rusty so I think plenty of sikaflex on top the screw heads is essential. Also don't scrimp on the mastic tape either!

Where is the wire supposed to go?! Everyone always skips the dangling wire in videos and cannot find results anywhere online, there is no visible lip or hole for the wire that connects to the power source to feed through, weve resulted in drilling a hole through the side of the vent hope this doesn’t completely mess up the vent but what else are we expected to do

Diminishing returns. It cut out the main drumming noise from the large panels. The main road noise deadening is achieved more by the various layers of insulation materials and walls/flooring.
