Fitting 31" Tyres on the Suzuki Jimny

In this video we fitted the jimny with some 31"x10.5" Falken Wildpeak AT3W tyres.

Oil cooler needed for that auto transmission for longevity. Those larger tires will put some additional strain on your transmission with the steepness of those trini hills. Enjoying the content from St. Lucia. Defender 110 owner here but enjoyed my samurai and Jimny when I had them.

It def helps, it gets cooler air with the snorkel rather than the hot air from the engine bay

It feels normal as stock on road. I haven't taken it off road as yet, I believe that's where I would really feel the difference. The ride is really good, it has a full black raptor suspension (check my previous video for more on that).

I am having a SJ413 manual which I like. The 3rd generation with auto transmission, do you find sufficient torque for off road?

Mine is an auto and I find it has sufficient torque for offroading, it just lacks power on the highway

Surely this will destroy the axels, transfer box and bearings on a G3? I researched so much about wider wheels and it’s tried and tested that beyond 225 75 or 8J wheel width will wreck it! Hilux axles are required?

I think it depends on how you drive it, although the wheel bearings would need to be changed more often. Some of my buddies have been running 33"x12.5" MT for years on their jimny with no problems. I'll do a video with their builds in the near future.

Loads of people run 31's and even 33's on Jimny's, Vitaras and SJ's. They're fine. I even have a friend running 33's on an LJ, which has weaker axles than an SJ or Jimny. We just get good at replacing wheel bearings.

31 tyres can affect performance of the engine?

The power output of the engine stays the same. However, since the 31s are bigger and heavier than stock tyres, they require more power to turn, hence, the Jimny would move slower than stock for example while accelerating. Hope this helps 🙌

No, you need a minumum of 50mm lift and you will neet to trim the metal fenders, the wheel arches and the front bumper by quite a bit.

I have no problem cutting it. The higher it’s lifted, you’ll have to compromise on handling and comfort as a daily driver.
