It's about time I got back to the Bobber. I have had this Motone customs X pipe sitting in the garage for too long. This X pipe is specifically made for the Triumph Bobber by Motone customs, and as you will see it fits perfectly.
Does it make a difference? WHAT I can't hear you!!
With the cat removed and the short pipes the bike is ridiculously loud. So much so I am considering if it is too loud. It will give a noisy Harley Davidson a run for its money.

Nice video. I put an x-pipe onto my 2021 Speedmaster along with hitchcox short drag pipes. It was brutal, in fact too brutal so I spent the next hour refitting the cat. I love the look of the drag pipes but I think some baffles are needed to stop the engine sounding like a machine gun with the cat removed. The popping and bangining on over-run was stupid too but with the cat back in situ it's now acceptable (to me). Two things to mention, there are a couple of inserts (may be called exhaust gaskets on Triumph Parts Diagrams #16) on the cat to look out for, I managed to crush one so had to buy a replacement which slowed the refitment up a bit. Second point: it's a much much easier job with a bike lift....🙂 I'm still toying with the idea of a DNK tune (ive swapped a few emails with Daniela at DNK Tuneworks) but haven't dived in yet as I'm also considering tinkering with the maps myself through TuneECU. Pleased to see I'm not the only one who paired an x-pipe with short drag pipes and regretted it....!

I go up and down with it. Its a love hate relationship. I know the exhaust gaskets you mean. I reused the originals but they are a right pain to get on and clamp properly. Have a look at my other videos, there is one there about the DNK map. I agree with the idea of baffles. I am actually thinking to refit the original cans with the X pipe to see how that sounds. A lot of things would be easier with a bike lift… but where is the fun in that 😂

Lovely, sounds like mine! I can recommend the DNK tune with this set up (using TuneECU). With this set up the tune makes a night and day difference to the performance. Every gear is perfect (you can even use 6th and it revs cleanly through the gear, no dead spot). There is no jerkiness at low speed (leave it in second and it'll chug with no clutch) and you still retain a bit of popping on deceleration. They don't recommend the 12 minute Triumph tune after flashing the ECU just go and ride it and as it learns the local climate it just gets better and better! Cheers mate! 😎

Already done. Im a little behind with the videos etc as it takes me longer to get round to that, than it does with messing with the bike. I will post a vid soon of the DNK mapping. I sounds ridiculous now, like yours i imagine. Makes you grin every time, and not chugging along in 2nd like its going to stall is waaaay better. I will need to check back but im pretty sure the relearning has to be done at idle with the adaptions reset. It will be in the video anyway, as I had instructions sent through from DNK.

Nice, can’t do that here in Japan due to strict regulations but still…sounds mental I bet.

To be honest Steve, im not sure its above board here either. Extremely loud, dont think it would pass an MoT and may draw some attention from the 🚔…. Time will tell

Ha ha yeah your not wrong. Its normally kept in good order but I was giving it as much use as I could and was in a rush to get on the road that day. Dont worry it got a clean once I got to the bike meet… i even got a trophy for best paint that day.

By any chance you have the torque specs of all the bolts you remove?

I have a service manual with all the torque specs for the bike. I will have a look through and make a list

I've got the x-pipe sitting in a box here, not fitted it yet. Don't want the bike to get too loud, since I tend to get home quite late at night and I don't want to wake up the neighbourhood more than I already do hehe. I have the original pipes / mufflers though, so perhaps won't be too bad even with the cat gone. How are you getting along with the high bars? Been contemplating getting them for my bike as well.

I like the high bars. I think they look great and suit the bobber. I am still getting used to cornering with them as it feels odd sometimes having the arms up higher, but overall it gives me a better riding position. My T100 has higher bars than standard too. The removal of the X pipe and the short pipes with no muffler makes the bike VERY loud. So much so it is difficult to record, but I will try to get a sample that doesn't blow the mic. I think it sounds great but there is a lot of popping on the deceleration, and I think the bike might now be running a little lean. More on that to follow.

So. For me stock pipes…and xpipe, will it make much difference

I took my stock pipes off as soon as I got the bike, so I cant tell your for sure how that would sound. I cant remember if there are baffles in them that can be removed either. I am actually considering putting mines back on just to see, as it is a little too loud and obnoxious as it is (shhh dont tell anyone I said that). Long term I might put different cans on that have baffles I can adjust or remove as I need. When I swapped from the standard pipes to the short drags it made a big difference. The Hitchcox pipes sound great. BUT, the removal of the cat, WOW now that is like turning the volume from 50 to 100.

@@The_Scottish_Bikerabout to do my x pipe this week. And watching your video repeatedly to follow. Did you have to do mount the radiator to loosen the frame as it looks like the radiator is attached on both sides of the frame
