I enjoy the DIY projects. It not only saves money, but it gives one a satisfying feeling of accomplishment. A video like this allows a golfer to have step by step instructions as they work on it, stopping the video as needed. I think I would practice on an old club from a second hand shop before attempting gamer clubs.

Great content lads. Team working at its best. You definitely know what your subscribers like. I don’t trust my DIY skill’s enough to carry out any changes needed to my clubs and hand my clubs over to my golf Pro to sort. My thinking behind my decision is I am supporting my golf Pro. Cheers

I've had succes with wrapping the graphite bit of the shaft with aluminium foil. And then use a properly sized washer in between the adapter and the endscrew. Then you take the back of a hammer, the nail puller part and pull it when you smell the epoxy. You can even put the Hammer with the handle pointing up and pull the shaft off. Ez as 123

Useful little vid Gaz, some of us love tinkering with the clubs, and these kinds of videos make great content. Here's one for you and Sam, a friend gave us a set of Callaway X-16's for Jamie - he shortened them an inch and re-gripped them (he used to work in a Pro's Shop), but as Jamie is only 12, and not the biggest stature, the clubs are a touch heavy. I've seen other golf club fitters talk about grinding weight off the clubs to lighten them - is this something that could be done succesfully, and if so how would you go about it?
@garymartingolf
@garymartingolf 2 жыл бұрын
I’m not going to lie, that’s abit above my knowledge of club adjustments. I would be worried though, any lightening of the head would make the club shaft play stiffer which wouldn’t be ideal for a 12 year old. My advice would be to get them on eBay and use the funds to find something better suited 👌🏼

Nice job that 👍 I've always liked the coffee shop wooden stirers for epoxy. And if you don't have a vice (or friend) a black and decker workmate is another decent clamp. Use a bit of old cycle inner tube for extra grip.

Don’t know about the UK, but online you can buy “grip kits” for do it yourself re gripping. They include 13 grips, 13 strips of premeasured double sided tape, small bottle of spirits, AND a rubber shaft clamp you can put in your vise. At a decent price usually.

In shortening the club by 1/2 inch why take it off the tip end rather than the grip end?

Not hard at all, just make sure you have the right tip size. Newer woods are predominantly .335, but some of the older stuff from 2015 and before used .350. You can put a .335 shaft into a .350 hosel/head, but you would need a shim. You can not safely get a .350 shaft into a .335 hosel.

Can you save the adapters ?
@garymartingolf
@garymartingolf Жыл бұрын
You can, but adapters usually have a fitted ferrule which gets damaged and a universal ferrule replacement doesn’t usually fit as flush, it’s also tricky to remove them without damaging the paint due to the heat which is applied. I’d always prepare by buying a new adapter, but to answer your question, you could if you really wanted to re-use one 👍🏼
