Thanks for that. Took me ages to work out how to release the spring following the haynes manual

Thank you for showing your rebuild effort, warts and all. This is much more like the way it is in "real life".

Thank you sir. , I’ve just realised it’s not a new clutch I need. My master cylinder has a leak. So I really appreciate the advice. And hints. As a new cylinder is 73 quid. Worth a try on the repair kit. 👍 new subscriber looking forward to your other videos

Hello Steve, many thanks for looking at my video. They ar all a little crude because I don't have time to iron out any mistakes. You may find this one helpful when you are replacing it m.youtube.com/ watch?v=Kl6Sq3wlGMQ Best wishes Alec

Hello, many thanks for looking at my video. I used moss-europe.co.uk. Part number GRK1027 0.75ins Bore. for a TR4. Use part number 18G8986 0.70ins for a TR4A. Good luck. Alec

I worked for Girling for 28 years, I probably have the drawings for these, which were made in Cwmbran.

Do you folks expect these seal to swell up to a proper bore fit or should they in fact fit the the bore right out of the box. In other words should the seal base OD fit the bore and the lip OD exceed the bore size when not compressed in?

Nice video, thanks - but how do I get the piston out, please, before disassembly? Mine doesn't come out, and it's certainly not self-explanatory, sorry.

Hi Oliver sorry for not getting back to you sooner. Without seelng the MC I am just guessing that the old unit is dry. Try to get some fluid inside and let it soak. Push the piston back a little then tap the unit on to a hard surface so the piston comes foreward.lf you get a little movement push the piston back again. You could try an airline but cover the opening so you don't loose the parts.good luck. Alec

Seals that fit correctly are hard to find. Many seller are providing seals that are smaller than OEM and the result is short life. Where do you get your seals?
@alecmcleod56793 жыл бұрын
Hello thank you for looking at my video. I get the seals from Rimmer Brothers and Moss europe
@engtech103 жыл бұрын
@@alecmcleod5679 I find that some replacement seals are smaller than I would like see in the kit. The base of the seal should just fit the bore and the lipped seal end should be .030" - .040" larger than the bore.

The kit for my early TR4 is for a 0.75inch bore, the later TR4 and 4A is 0.70inch

Great video thanks how much pressure do you get/should I have typically in a dual circuit MC? I have really weak brakes. I bought a pressure testing kit. Goes up to extremely high pressure but I can't even get the needle to move at all. Would this show and prove that my MC is completely gone? I have bought a seal repair kit going to try that now.

Many thanks for watching my video. If you aren't getting good pressure it could be you have air in the system and the pedal will feel spongy. If when you press the pedal and keep pressing the pedal gradually keep going down you have a leek in the system or you need new seals.Good luck, Alec

hi, you do not use brake paste for the assembly of the seal and piston?
@alecmcleod56795 жыл бұрын
Hello Antonio, after I used the honing tool I cleaned the inside and lubricated it with Dot3 brake fluid. If you are going to fill your master cylinder with silicone, use that. best wishes, Alec
