I had problems with my clutch after driving through floods. Clutch pedal was soft and wouldn’t return. Had to put car in gear (2nd) before starting then start car and let clutch out. It would clunk and everything would be fine for a while. I’ve not driven the car for a week and the method I’ve just mentioned doesn’t work. Clutch actually works at bottom 3 or 4 inches of pedal travel. Any ideas? Slave cylinder, thrust bearing? I’ve had the fluid changed a few weeks ago after the trouble. VW Passat 2.0 tdi 2014.

Hi I have recently been facing an issue where in case of too much traffic my car heats a lot and there is some fuel burn smell and my clutch pedal gets spongy and I can't shift gears. After turning off the engine and waiting for an hour allowing things to cool off everything works fine again.

My clutch pedal only goes about halfway down. Could this be the slave cylinder or something more serious like throwout bearing?

Hello I’m not a car mechanic only an enthusiast but Ive had intermittent problems with the clutch pedal and I read somewhere that using synthetic engine oil opposed to non synthetic can effect gaskets and car seals negatively ,I took apart a MK3 2007 Honda CRV Clutch slave cylinder a moment ago and noticed that the rubber bung around the bottom of the cup on top of the small spring looked thicker or swollen next to a slightly newer part of the same model so it’s my opinion that the wrong clutch fluid has been used and it’s not moving fluidly back through the cylinder after the pressure release and thus not pushing the pedal back up so anyway I got this other clutch slave cylinder from a car metal salvage yard and saved a lot of money i haven’t tested the car as yet because I’m not sure how bleed the clutch with it completely empty which is why I’m also writing this tutorial…did I need to fill up the clutch slave cylinder before install? Or will gravity do that work or? Thanks for reading

Hello, I wonder if you can help me I have a 2018 Ford Fiesta manual six speed 11,000 miles diesel after driving the car every night in town for about an hour. The car starts to shudder when releasing the clutch in first gear or reverse. This happens every time after an hour of driving it. Any ideas what this could be please thank you🙏🏻

I have a hydrolic intermittent fail then work again pedal high then can drop to floor at different times while in use replaced master and slave cyl don't know what to do now ???

If you didn't replace the lines and used the old ones they could be clogged. Also did you bleed it after replacing those?

my volvo 940 turbo has slave cylinder problem the slave cylinder moves back and forth when you press pedal down there supposed to be locking ring but i think its gone😂

I replaced my slave cylinder and master clutch cylinder and I’ve bled the clutch and my clutch still has no pressure

Dont need to call god, jsut go to a mechanic shop thy will fix it easly. and you dont need to get all dirty of corrosive oils..

I’ve done three clutches in my Impreza and it’s been the release bearing everytime. Also the fork bent and started to split but the bearing was still shot. Could be anything bud.

my mustang is a 5spd. sometime the clutch works fine. and it shifts fine. but when it does the clutch gets real hard to push and the gears all try locking me out. i thought it was just was bc once the car was warm it got hard to shift now its all the tome

After you do a gravity bleed and then finish up with More of a pressure bleed even if it's a stick between the seat and the clutch pedal you'll notice that it gets easier to shift...... You'll notice after freshly bleeding the system it returns a normal which shows that your system is sucking air..... You can try replacing All the parts with quality parts even the hose and if that doesn't work then you're gonna have to replace the pressure plate...on the other hand.. Hopefully it's a real slow leak and it's not sucking air...... Try to find a slave cylinder that has a double rubber seal into the slave piston... Sorry for the English.

The rod from the clutch master cylinder is way too long, or the clutch disk itself is completely worn out or it has a bunch of oil and lubrication on it somehow..... somebody squirted WD40 on the the clutch fork or someone try to lubricate the throw out bearing and they got it all over the clutch disk Maybe you could wash it off with the detergent...

Replace it yourself and youll save allot of money. Its really unnecessary to pay someone to do it for you, just learn and figure it out. They did, so can you

Only 150 including labor for the slave cylinder. Totally worth it to not do it myself.
