Nice to see a proper motorhome RCD, the amount of so called pro van builders I see on here using garage/home consumer units with RCD's that only detect on the line and not neutral makes me cringe. The two gang unit from Wickes is not suitable. Not a fan of inverters wired into the mains sockets also on the hook up but I know a lot of people do it and have no problems but thats just me. Chris

Thanks Chris. I’ve also seen a lot of single pole setups - main worry is you can’t always trust what you are plugging into to be wired correctly so makes sense to have 2 pole solutions. Ref sockets on inverter / hookup, a lot is in the how there - I’m not a fan of the ups type (previous bad experience) - am going a video soon on how I’ve done it, namely though physical isolation so the inverter and mains cannot co-exist to the sockets. Appreciate your views on that one (should be out in a couple of weeks) All the best, David 👍

Great vlog David.I'm planning on adding an additional dedicated socket and wire it back like you have to an inverter via a plug.I assume as the inverter is fused, I don't need to run it through a MCB as the extension is no different to using a plug directly off the inverter?

Thank you. If direct to the inverter, no you wouldn’t need to connect to the mcb just go direct to the inverter - however worth noting I fitted an RCD to the inverter which was the RCD on the left hand side I switched off which trips if power going into a circuit is different from that coming out (neutral is less than live)- indicating it’s leaking somewhere, potentially though a person, cutting the power to help prevent fatal electric shock) - it’s worth considering fitting one between your inverter output and any sockets for extra piece of mind - that’s why I fitted it just in case at some point someone manages to touch a live wire fed from the inverter (most likely me 😀) then it could potentially save their life. Lots of people don’t bother though but for the sake of £20 ish I think well worth it. Hope that makes sense - all the best, David 👍

Thought you might like to know….. The colours of the bootlace ferrules (the things that you crimped onto the wire) denote their internal diameter. You should use the size that matches the wire cross sectional area

Hi there David the earth conductor should be the longest conductor not the shortest conductor should the cable get pull or snaged at anytime. The first conductor in your case to be pulled out of it's termination would be the earth cable which could leave the circuit still working but without the very important earth cable.
