Make sure the spark coils have been changed. I was reading up on the 2020 xr the bike I own and people was saying that the coils pack up around 10k and I was out in the middle of nowhere and the coils packed up and the milage was just past 10k . My advice is buy one that has done the 18k service that consists of the valve clearance that I have been told can be expensive.

I know this is an old vid but currently trying to decide on what to do about my current exhaust on my 2021 XR. Got an akro on it at mo, and euro 5 has killed the sound. In your opinion, buy this end can to guve it a better sound or get a whole system to make the akro louder? O and also dont want it too loud at motorway speeds as tour on my bike, so what was it like at 70?

Hello mate, awesome bike you have there. Being honest in the end I think this Pro race was the wrong type of sound for me. It was a bit much. A full system would probably be the best way to go for power and sound combined. Pricing but worth it. The XR due to Euro 5 as you say does suffer on the stock setup. Hope this helps mate. Cheers 🍻

@@lifeonmarshmoto yeah I think that was one of the issues I had. It was offensively loud on cold start up and in the end the wrong type of sound for me. It's not bad when at motorway in a higher gear though. Oh yeah, thise full systems are very pricey! But they do unlock much more power as well as its a full Cat removal solution.

Morning mate. Ah it rips 😃 I can help, its the stainless steel, black without mesh. All the mesh does is literally cover the exhaust end. I thought it looked better without but your call on that. Titanium might sound different but I can't confirm that. It's so light already not sure Titanium would make it much lighter. Cheers 🍻

I’ve had the previous model with the cobra black exhaust.. sound was nice but with this new euro 5 cat I think the cobra will sound bad. That’s why i want to go for the pro race version. Its probably similar as loud compared to my previous bike. I’ve a video of my bike on my channel.. you judge yourself. Thanks again and great review! Cheers

Hello mate, yes all 2020 Gen 2 models are Euro 5 now. You can get Full Akrapovic systems to bypass but bike will probably need a tune after that. Bren Tuning have kits for ecu tuning.

Question, do you think its lost power buy changing the exhaust? I ask this because if I opened mine up like you have, the front wheel would defo be up in the air. I have the 2015 model, all standard as far as i know. Also mine pops, burps, farts and snorts when you let the throttle off in dynamic and dynamic pro mode. Maybe the new ones dont do that?

Hello mate, if anything it felt faster. Acceleration felt easier and smoother. Unfortunately the 2020 onwards are Euro 5 blah blah blah, so have a pre CAT and Massive CAT, welded system all before the end can. So more restricted hence less pops n bangs. This basically helped it breathe a little better. Front definitely comes up. but I'm also 21 stone of beast man lol. Best thing would full Akra system, headers n all plus, filter and custom dyno map. some make close to the RR with this. saw a YT video with one at 190 wheel HP :) Cheers

I had Cobra’s on my two older models but swore i was going to keep my later models stock as its quiet for when we tour abroad etc but!!!……………having seen the vid !! Hi Jason, yeah really good mate. Was out on the XR today. Makes a great noise when going for it, but it's also pretty quiet when you want it to be. Under 6K rpm it's really not very loud. Cold starts are quite loud though.

I'm really liking your XR series, would be great to see more bikes reviewed so thoroughly! I have a question though - I'm coming from f750gs and looking for an upgrade. Have briefly tested the r1250gs and s1000xr. Although the GS seems the more reasonable choice it's just bit boring. Torque but no excitement. XR on the other hand is doing my head in..wanted to like it but couldn't find the middle ground in the engine. Low down it felt less responsive then my f750gs, but riding it above 6k just to get a more direct throttle response seemed a bit too eager in the city or tight twisties. Is there a way or setting (dynamic pro?) to make it pull better in lower revs or I just need to remap my brain for inline 4? :)

Morning Adrian and thank you mate. It's a tough one right. I totally understand having reviewed them both. I think the main issue with the XR is the Exhaust system restrictions and map. There are videos on KZbin showing remapped bikes making 190 wheel HP!! You can get things like Bren tuning boxes that stop the valves closing amongst other things but I can't say I've tested that. Some swear by them though. I think a full system, map and filter with dyno tune would make the bike literally amazing but it depends on many factors such and more money to throw at it, possibly voiding warranties and insurance. I did the slip on section on my bike as you know which in my mind at least makes it feel slightly less choked up, but it really needs the Cats removed. Full Akra headers and tune. Unfortunately I dont think any setting in Dynamic Pro will help with more low down torque. But if you really like the bike in all other areas, parts and a tune will 100% sort it. You are right though inline 4 has a big part to play as well. Just their characteristics. Slap a supercharger or turbo on. Done. 😆 Cheers 🍻

Love your bike mate!!! Has it been reliable? (I test rode a 2015 model S1000XR and it sounded like it had loose nuts and bolts rattling around in the engine 🙂). Is the seat comfy?
