I can't get used to the relative size difference between aircraft wings and boat foils. These don't look big enough to lift a dinghy, let alone an Imoca. But they're correct. Good luck Pip, I'll be following you all the way around.

I know exactly what you mean. They do seem impossibly high aspect ratio and insufficient area for the lift they need to generate at relatively low speed to get the boat flying, but water being 1000 times denser than air… Happy days! The thing that always makes me pause for a moment is their ability to withstand the huge shock loads that they do with such a small section at their root. Materials science is awesome. 😎🤘

Hey Pip. Over there in Japan. I've been nagging and nagging Elayna and Riely (You know them ~ there over there with their two boys and crew on that yellow trimaran ~. I think they call themselves La Vagabonde ~) Anyway, you just got a nice cameo comment from Riely on their latest post. Then he went into promoting "Headspace."
