This feels like finding an oasis after being lost in the desert of fitting resources for a loooong time😅. Thank you so much for sharing this. Your diagnostic approach makes so much sense, your videos are packed with so many rich details and tips. So grateful!! Can’t wait to take your classes

Thank you. Have seen tons of fitting problem videos, but this one is far the best. Have learned some new tricks.

I heard you share in a Q&A why you provide so much valuable information for free. Now I understand your strategy and why you put so much time into your videos (and I'm sure your courses). At the same time I still think you are very very generous and I can't thank you enough. You are the type of instructor I want and need. (It's also very nice to know you're Canadian and you don't live that far from me.) I am listening to all of your videos and will practice using a slope from a Big 4 pattern I have. After that I think I will still need to take some of your courses. Thank you so much Alexandra. I think you are filling a huge niche.

This is one of the best videos on fit issues I have seen because you apply an order to addressing them. You are very clear and I’m so glad I found your channel. I’ve been sewing for about a year and am working on fitting my muslin to my body, which isn’t always easy because I do this by myself. Thank you. You’re great.

What a beautifully thought out and systematic walk through. I'm unhappy with the (current) fit of my first blouse project but while finding many good alteration videos (pinching out cut and slash, etc.) I was missing the foundation for figuring out what I think of as the 'root cause' . Very helpful indeed and will look forward to your future content!

I came back to sewing in lockdown and keep going round in circles with fitting. I feel quite excited now I've watched your four videos. You are so clear and everything is very well ordered. I look forward to starting my fitting journey again and get an understanding of how to get a good fit. If I remove width at the side seams what happens to the armgole and sleeve? Thank you
@AlexandraMorganInHousePatterns4 ай бұрын
Removing at the side seams will change the armhole size so you need to assess it after that change. You can watch this video for more info on that: www.inhousepatternsstudio.com/blog/the-armhole-sleeve-connection

Hello Ms. Morgan. I am considering purchasing a dress form. Do you have recommendations on what to consider when purchasing this item? I only intend to use it for my fitting.
@sewtania40746 жыл бұрын
This is the best explanation that I have found. I always need a dart in the front armscye yet I have a small bust and most things I have read about fit say this is due to a full bust. The length btw my shoulder to bust apex (8") is very short relative to my height and circumference and my arms are very narrow. In your size sharts, I would be 0 for front shoulder and bicep width, 4 for bust and unded bust circumference, 4 for back shoulder width, 8 for CB neck to waist and 12 for arm length. How does such variation typically reflect itself in fitting issues? In my lower body, I would be 6 for waist width and 12 for distance between hip and waist. I would love to take one of your courses if I can get to Victoria.

Your videos are easy to follow and filled with good advice. Thank you. When fitting a muslin,how can you tell whether the creases or bunching is a drag (too tight) or a fold ( too loose)? They look the same to me :-)
@0593515 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much Alexandra; not many make the effort of going through fitting issues in such detail. I am surprised, though, that despite assiduous and meticulously marking the paper pattern and translating it into muslin you still get fairly moderate issues to rectify. Why is that?
@AlexandraMorganInHousePatterns5 жыл бұрын
Rekha Sharma because flat measurement does not indicate shape so you have to refine shape and contour issues

I'm confused when it say hip measurement as I think of the hip as my bottom but it appears the hip measurement is actually the bottom of my waist....I'm not sure if I am explaining myself correctly.

Will you demonstrate how to take the muslin bust adjustments (small armhole dart & tuck under to bust point & to the left at an angle that you pinned out) to the paper pattern and then I assume rotate the pattern dart to the new "french" location? I'm not getting how to deal the a tuck on the interior of the pattern not touching a stitching line. Thx
@AlexandraMorganInHousePatterns6 жыл бұрын
I've demonstrated this method in this video: www.inhousepatternsstudio.com/blog/quick-tips-for-patterns-that-fit-the-gaping-front-armhole hope it helps! The tuck is just a reshaping of the dart legs, making them curved instead of straight.
