Fitting Hornby Maglight Units To MK3 Coaches

I thought id get the hornby mag light units for my midland pullman hst, let me know what you think.

Great video showing us how to do it. Just a tip for you and others is, when holding the battery don't touch both sides, you shorten its life.

Hi Tom they look good with the lights in and couplings done now but sounds a bit pricey £45 + lights + couplings not very cheap glad you’re happy with them cheers Al

They certainly are pricey when you have a 9 coach train but for me I do like doing the night scenes that's the only reason why I bother with them, I did buy the coaches about 5 months before the lights so atleast that broke the cost down abit, there are cheaper methods for coach lighting, budget model railways has just done a video on it, but I just got these for convenience, thanks for watching. Hi, great video content, does your magnetic wand from your Accurascale coach pack work on the Hornby lighting? I'm going down the ESU lighting for my Hornby coaches(APT) then i will fit to the rest a set at a time, they are a a bit more expensive but they have a decoder on board like the Bachmann lighting but have a lot more functions, the battery changing bugs me, the batteries aren't cheap if you opt for a quality brand, the coaches aren't cheap. I have just purchased the Accurascale nuclear flask wagons, no batteries supplied!!! no magnetic wand until next month, i will never purchase another item like it from Accuracale again, £75 for the wagons with no batteries, they should have produced a non flashing light option or a basic decoder like some companies offer, thanks for sharing.

Really good how to video. I’ve got a rake of Hornby intercity Mk2’s and am currently unsure if to replace them or add lights to make them better. 🤔. May well be coming back to this video 👍

No problem, I do have the virgin liveried mk2 coaches with lights there pretty good, shame hornby didn't carry on doing them, Bachmann ones are good to am much more detailed but are very expensive, I think they should all have a stay alive though to stop them flickering, thanks for watching. Tom

I do like to see trains running at night. However, my favourite subject on this is Steam at Night. Are the Maglights compatible with Mk. 1 coaches? I'd love to see your beautiful Manor engine running at night, with a rake of Chocolate & Cream Mk. 1 coaches fitted with the Maglights, if they work.

All my mk1s are bachmann so the hornby lights won't fit unfortunately, I'll hopefully get them light fitted eventually and maybe a front lamp and cab lights in the manor one day

I fitted them into my lgb 4 wheel coaches, worked a treat until i forgot to turn them off and they went flat 😂

I almost done that with hornby 4 wheel coaches luckily when I ture d the loft light of I could see them illuminated 😂, that's a good idea for the lgb coaches, might try that myself saves connecting each coach up to the loco or track, does the magnet work ok on the thick plastic roofs

@@northwesttrainsmodels what I did was put the reader chip right to the edge of the interior where the plastic is a bit thinner, and also put it near the open window in the coach so i could always put the magnet through the window to get the lights to come on and off if I couldn't get it to read through the plastic. 👍
