Look at Leighton'sLocos channel. He has G Scale steam engine models in his home. The G Scale engine videos he's uploaded will show you how much more space you need for G Scale. However, maybe you could construct a G Scale railway in your back garden if you have one. Bear in mind, G Scale model engines and rolling stock, because they are a lot bigger, will cost you nearly a fortune.

The Virgin HST should be on the main line so we can enjoy main line train spotting the way it once was. I don't approve of steam engines that have covered wheels, so get rid of it. Agreat layout - inspirational! I have just started in OO+OO9. I notice that you have loads of fantastic detailed scenery etc against your wall/roof. How do you manage to lean across to build and maintain it all. Any help would be very usefull.
@northwesttrainsmodels17 күн бұрын
@woodygeo5162 thanks, much appreciated and great that your getting into the hobby, I try and keep the scenery in the background pretty simple so there isn't much maintenance most of the boards are only 2 foot wide so I can reach right across and the 009 section adds another 6 inches but I can still reach the back ok, the main advice I can give you is start simple and expand from there and main thing is you enjoy it and if there's something you don't like you can always go back and change it if necessary. The BSI coupling on the cab ends actually work so you can bang 2 units together for 4 car or more operations. They have a very good hold however can be difficult to separate
@northwesttrainsmodels8 күн бұрын
I was wondering how to decouple them, my issue always has been getting the 2 locos or units to run at the same speed I've only managed it with a handful of locos so far
@railwaybuddy7 күн бұрын
@ to uncouple takes a very careful hand and lots of patience. Coupling 2 units up of the same class with same decoders I find isn’t too much of a problem in terms or running performance & speed. But if you want to couple a bachmann 158 to a realtrack 156, good luck. I find it doesn’t normally end well.

Not enough snow, mate. The entire railway needs to be covered in model railway snow. The Sprinters can't move because their wheels are frozen solid. All the tank engines are hiding snug and warm inside their large engine shed, while Lydham Manor shares the Santa Special workload with Mr. DMU. Steam-hauled Christmas Special trains are also the order of main line timetables, since the diesels are all stuck fast in the sidings. Diesels aren't so reliable in freezing cold conditions. Steam engines manage a lot better, because they provide steam heating for the passengers. A magical atmospheric scene that truly shows Christmas has come along. Merry Christmas to you and all your steam engines who are better than stinky diesels.
@northwesttrainsmodels8 күн бұрын
the snow was only temporary unfortunately and i didnt want loose snow getting into the gears and motors so i just do a small scene away from the track, i might do a mini snow layout one day
@kellyashfordtrains26427 күн бұрын
@@northwesttrainsmodels Model Railway Snow never gets into gears and motors. My Cat Valley Steam Railway is covered in the stuff, and it's never given me any problems at all. All you have to do is take all your models off the track, and put them in their boxes. Scatter Model Railway Snow all over your railway, and then your model steamies are ready to run through a magical Winter Wonderland scene. The snow won't ever cause trouble with gears and motors, believe me.
