I can't tell you how immensely useful this video is for me personally. Am about to run in the cabling for a series of 2 way switching circuits to my extension ready for he sparks. I understand pendant based light circuits but needed to know what is required and to where for more modern 2 way downlighs. This told me everything I needed to know. Basically, feed in from CU (on radial series) then it splits out from switch to lights via T&E and connects to 2nd switch via 3 core. Not going to connect it all up myself but at least I can rest assured I'm doing the run ins correctly. Much appreciated and good luck to Ben. Your confidence will grow and you seem like a nice lad so expect you found work easily since this vid was 5 years ago!

Its a good way of reducing cables from CU down to switch to a new build property, however if its an old building and you decide to replace a regular lighting to a downlight ones, its not practical to do it that way isnt Gaz, because you will have to strip down the wall covering the chase or such? Correct me if im wrong thanks.

If there a feed out the switch to another switch. Do you connect in the same terminal as the feed in?
@GSHElectrical6 жыл бұрын
Hi. Yes to take the feed to another switch you connect to the neutral and cpc and the permanent line which will either be in L1 or L2 depending how it was connected. Hope this helps Gaz

It looks like you actually teach the guys real world skills at your college, far too many kids around here are getting a poor deal and being taught to pass the course without skills to actually work. You see it when they start working and find what should be the bread and butter confusing them. by using real world scenarios like this that encompass lots of skills you are preparing them well. Will you be doing other real world tasks to keep pushing them?. I think you should ask a alarm company to donate some kit and get the advanced guys to install a zoned alarm system. Or maybe a fire alarm panel? all valuable skills this day and age.

Hi. Thanks for taking the time to comment in detail. We have Honeywell S and Y plan boards, split boards to install with 12 circuits etc. Sadly like most colleges is down to money but we do try to stretch all learners. An ex-learner that works at Collingwood sent me the downlights so we put them to good use. Keep watching and commenting thanks again Gaz 👍

Could you do a video on what to do once you've completed your level 3 at college. Would you find an apprenticeship, or become and improver or electrical mate.
@davidm3maniac2016 жыл бұрын
Eli last Its important you get experience on site. Phone your local electrical contractors first and explain what you are doing. Your college or careers advisor should have told you this. If no joy with local contractors you will have to try further out but dont give up. David
