Great , short sweet and to the point. Have learnt two things from your video. 1the line up of the wheel and 2 the way both shafts are put in together

Seasonal pitchers. Make sure you can remove lock regularly at least every 3 months. I left mine on for whole season only to find lock mechanism stuck. Lots of WD40 (not silicon spray) and several hours later the lock turned.

How do you fit the alko locks on a twin axle when you have a 4 wheel mover fitted. One lock goes on easy what about the other wheel
@CaravanEscapades1012 жыл бұрын
Hello Brian, thanks for your comment, It can be a real faff to tryu and fit both Alko Wheel Locks, Very occasionally you can get both receptacles lined up. Other options are to fit one lock then Jack the Caravan up using the Alko Or Kojac jacking system. Some people use Lock and Level. So put caravan on Lock and Level fit 1 Lock, then inflate one side rotate the wheel and fit a second. This is not ideal if you are in storage as it requires the Lock & Level to be left in place. What I do now, is fit the Alcko lock on one Wheel and then use a Milenco Wraith on the other. The Milenco does not use the Chassis Receptacle and has its own bar that goes through the wheel. I did a vlog on them if it helps. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oni0qaarnbhnkMk Thanks for watching and Happy Camping. James

Any idear on how to find the right one for your caravan as theres loads different ones??
@CaravanEscapades1013 жыл бұрын
Hi. If you can determine the style of wheel you have you should be able to identify which lozenge your require. Also if you join a FB group for the brand of caravan you have someone on there is most likely to have the same wheels and advise what number lozenge you need. Hope that helps. Happy Camping James

Go onto the Alko website and put in your caravan make and model, it will tell you which one you need.

The end of the wrench fits onto the yellow lock cap, making it easier to put on and off. The yellow cap has a small slot to receive the wrench. Or did you not know that?

I have a motorhome with 225/R75 16CP tyres on Fiat wheels.How can I find out which Lozenge number I need.
@CaravanEscapades1013 жыл бұрын
Hi Ken, does your Motorhome have the receptical for the ALKO lock its like an internally threaded hole on the Chassis. James

@@CaravanEscapades101 Hi. Thanks for reply. Yes both my rear wheels have the threaded receptical.

I have been uneasy about buying a secondhand alko wheel lock because I have heard that unless the previous owner deregisters the lock with alko the new owner cannot register the lock and therefore would be unable to get replacement keys if he broke or lost a key or the lock failed/seized.
@CaravanEscapades1013 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for watching and commenting I do agree. However you could just buy the lozenger second hand. Dispose of the lock that came with it and purchase a new lock. mechanism. My first Al-Ko lock was second hand and I didn't have any problems but that was more luck than anything else. Stay Safe James

@@CaravanEscapades101 Thanks James I will check out the price of the replacement lock barrel. Currently we use a Millenco Wraith on our single axle van this is very easy to fit.
@CaravanEscapades1013 жыл бұрын
@@andrewpaley9914 I have a twin Axle, I only have the one Al-Ko lock. I also use the Milenco Wraith, I find once the barrel is set up they are relatively easy to use, I actually have 3 of them on all the other wheels, Thanks again for watching.

That kind of key-lock is very easy to force and open
@CaravanEscapades1012 жыл бұрын
Agreed but you also need tbe uniquely splined adaptor to then remove the threaded pin from the Chassis. I do understand that these locks are not infallible. I have a lock on each wheel on my twin axel as well as Hitch lock and steady lock. All in the hope it slows them down or they move on to somthing with less security. Thanks for watching and Happy Camping.

These units maybe insurance approved, but they are a complete pain to align and fit in tight areas. Would hate these on twin axle models. Must be other manufacturers who’s products are insurance approved that are far easier to fit, still looking for alternatives?
@CaravanEscapades1013 жыл бұрын
I agree, I only use one Alko, and have a Milenco Wraith on the other wheel. Thanks for watching.

So I take it you can't drive while the lock is in... I need a drivable lock.
@CaravanEscapades1012 жыл бұрын
Hello Clement, thank you for your comment, I don't believe there is any wheel lock that can be fitted while you drive, What I do do while I am traveling is when I stop and leave the Caravan, I fit a Milenco Wraith Lock. Very Quick and easy to fit and remove. Hope that Helps. Happy Camping James

Thank You for the video Sir, but it still seems like a total faff. Surely Alko can come up with a better 'built into the chassis' solution. 'Turn a key' and the van is immobile would be as much security as I am prepared to do.
@CaravanEscapades1013 жыл бұрын
Thanks for commenting, I have to agree with you, I only have one ALKO on my twin Axle the rest of the wheel locks are Milenco Wraiths as they are so much easier to fit. I only have the Alko to satisfy the discount on my insurance. Happy Camping. James
