Proof Fitz-Simmons actually are cursed: when Fitz is asking Simmons out for real for the first time and he leans on the monolith container and adorably slips, you hear a click. Just after that is when Jemma notices the door is ajar and gets sucked in. Fitz slipping unlatched the door.
