So much valuable information on how to undertake difficult repairs and make them come out as close to OEM as possible. I’ve subscribed to your channel and observed the great complex repairs you performed. Unfortunately until now I had not seen this 1948 door repair that could have made my identical damage repair easier, same model Chevy truck. But fortunately I’ll be able perform this repair on right hand door in the fashion you did it. My left hand door repair was hard because I did NoT grind down the door outer/inner panel edge like you did. I too had issues with the reselling spots , very similar to yours.

All done on my phone. I picked up some go pros awhile back it step up my game only to find out it was hard to set up the lighting on them in my shop. The phone is crisp and clear so sticking with the phone. Like my welding tools my Camara gear is same way. Simple

This is the most down to earth and talented guy, since my dear dad, who had exactly the same basic logic about tools, he always made his own shop tools to manufacture various inventions that he came up with, I worked with him for years when I was in my 20's & 3o's, you remind me of my Papa, we are of french descent, I & I still speak it fluently, I come from a small town (french) called Falher, in northern Alberta, my great grand parents were part of the early settlers in 1912? I really enjoy the fact that you mostly use hand tools and home made dies and such. I also like the fact that you "recycle" metal rather than buy new. I do the same. Make my own tools when I need to and I have everything from square tubing from scrapped fitness equipment to stainless steel panels taken from a bar-b-que grille for material! It's part of the enjoyment for me. I am 68 and retired so I have plenty of time to use my imagination! By all means keep sharing the craftsmanship!

@@tgtg2945 a few projects on the go lol yesterday was bodywork on my Aussie Chrysler 69 VF 2 door chop top ( Dodge Dart ) style, with a 318 I’ve had for 18 years as a regular driver, every week took off the road 4 years ago to do up and in between major back surgery etc slowed me down for a couple but onwards and upwards, after rehab etc and taking care of myself 😊 I will get it back on the road soon.

Great channel and videos. This is the way i was trained 35 years ago. Its been 15 years since my mentor passed..Watching you is like a shop day with my friend Leonard. Ive listened to so much bs and trash talking from guys that come to my shop from collision repair that have never worked on body on frame vehicles. before the internet, before there were cheap offshore junk 22ga repair panels for everything..this is how CRAFTSMEN(and women) did repairs that last. another job well done you make it look like magic from rust to beautiful I wish I had watched you make the bubble scoop before I did the steel cowl scoop on my 57 Thunderbird hood would have saved many hours of body work getting my hood as flat and with the proper body line up the center , The good part is now I have found your channel and can use your methods on my old pick up truck project , carry on my friend continue giving lessons on the easy and patient way to get it done right ,

That is EXACTLY how I would have done it too....Cutting that door skin in most situations would also have a higher chance of warpage. That one in particular would not have warped because it was round. But making a patch panel was for the skin was totally unnecessary.....Good call Would have done it same way.

used your great instructions to put together a patch panel for my 96 Express Van behind the back wheel. Not the easiest first project but results were great. the corner behind the wheel was completed rotted away. use the other side as guide and the results were great. Thank you for all you hard work and being willing to share your knowledge.

This is so clever. Gives me inspiration to tackle my Land Rover doors. A little different due to aluminium skin , but the steel channel inside is steel and all that needs repair. Catch it in time. Its so good when you can see how its done. The finish is brilliant.

Very nice! I need to do the same repair on my wife's suburban - outer skin ok but lip is gone and I'm sure the inner structure is quite rusty and will need to be replaced. You made this repair look easy. Congrats on 50k subs!! You'll be at 100k before you know it....

Hey Fitzee. I see you doing a lot of grinding. I learned the hard way to cover glass on vehicles in proximity to the grinding. I bought glass for a nearly new pickup parked 20 feet away from my 9 inch grinder project.....just thought I'd mention it for what it's worth.

Lovely work as usual . I like to use a smooth mill file when i get to rounding over the lip to give it a good shape then hit with the da sander to finish it off. Same result though in the end.
