Watch On Does Ball watch uses ETA movement or in house movement ? I nearly bought a Longines moonphase Instead I bought a Hamilton Special 100th editions The downside of Moonphase is the size is small 38-40mm I am more suited with a 44mm watch

I had to find this video. I'd watched it a while ago and this us what put the ball in my head. I was between the ball or the longine. I bought the ball on a bracelet as I think it makes an excellent casual watch and on a leather strap it will be a great dress watch. It arrived today and it is beautiful. I found it new from an AD for 1580 and snatched it up.

As a surfer I find moonphase the most useful complication, my watch is casio gshock rescue with tidegraph and moonphase and it's very important for someone like me! It's my favorite complication and it makes a watch look stunning and so much interesting I have 2 analog watches with moonphase that is a Vulcain and a Universal geneve, both are vintage

It should also be noted that the Moon on the Ball is actually backlit with tritium. You can't get much cooler than that IMO. This is a feature unique to this watch as far as I know, and that's why it is the moonphase watch I've had my eye on for a while now. I have 2 Ball watches in the collection (Skindiver II and Fireman NECC) and the quality is amazing for the price.

I seen a slightly vintage Citizen Eco-Drive wr-100 Moonphase recently and it is a very nice looking timepiece Citizen really did good with it.. and not referring to the newer moonphase design as I am not to crazy about I am referring to the classic style design.

Very nice collection and video! As a moonphase lover and a blue dial lover, I would definitely suggest the Epos Emotion 3391 DBL (and for a more romantic night sky view the Epos Emotion 3391 BLM).

I'm not a watch expert by any stretch of the imagination. I am an outdoorsman and was searching for a good waterproof and corrosion resistant watch for offshore fishing. I ran into a company called Hook and Gaff watches. They are based here in South Carolina and offer a titanium watch called the Sportfisher II Moonphase which has a Swiss quartz movement. They are in the $700 price range. Just wanted to add another option to the readers. Thanks for the video.

Of your choices, Oris with the white dial is mesmerizing. Ball is probably more beautiful but its price makes the Oris more attractive. I am disappointed with the Moon phase by Orient. Usually, Orient gives you a stunning watch at a fraction of the cost. Their moon phase seems like a rushed design.

The Orient Sun & Moon watch is NOT a true moonphase watch .. it merely indicates AM/PM by Sun/Moon indices.

Well Moonphase in an automatic watch is a real pain. Same with perpetual calendars. One has to wear them constantly or use watch winders (which I personally dislike,) otherwise one has to reset them all the time. We viewers are enthusiastic watch lovers and no way will we be tied down to wearing only one, or two, watches in our rotation. That is why quartz solutions are far more practical (in a real-world sense) than automatics. Cheaper too; and are more accurate for longer periods. Don't get me wrong ... I admire mechanical watches and have many in my collection, however they are not best suited for every task. And Moonphase is one such task IMHO

My citizen ecodrive is perpetual calendar, it has day and day of week, month and year, and you never have to set it because it sew itself, I think it's atomic, and you also don't have to worry about battery or winding because its solar powered!

Who needs a moonphase? I'm Muslim and I've been shopping for my wife. I think this is a good argument for a quartz version because otherwise they usually need to be reset. Oris, Maurice Lacroix and Frederique Constant make good versions.

whats New Hi. Affordable is a relevant term. I only concentrated on automatic quality moonphase watches in the video. At € 1000-1500 they are affordable for automatic Swiss quality moonphase watches. Actually they are related. During a full, or new moon, the gravitational pull of the sun and moon lineup, causing a higher tide than normal.

the Longines watch you describe is a) overpriced and b) devaluates like a brick the Oris watch you describe can be 'hacked' which basically means you can handwind it as well if needed to jumpstart and set the time if you decide to wearing it again after its power is depleted in my opinion the Oris one is the best choice due to it's pricing but i grant that you need to appreciate the entire dial and not just the moonphase

Alright but you forgot to mention the best part about the Ball is the Lume that doesn't need sunlight thanks to it's tritium tubes aka Microgas luminiosity and so lasts all night without dimming.
