Five Dark Fates: a rambly messy review

I agree so much! I loved the series but this ending was such a punch in the face and it did not add up. If one queen survives, then she is a queen crowned. How come the goddess doesn't claim her now only one remains? And the mist needed 2 dead queens to calm down. Now it has two and then it becomes rational and dissappears in stead of calming down? It felt a bit like the hunger games ending for me.. I am just not satisfied if that makes sense.

I just finished this one and I was so let down! I thought maybe the way it was going to end was the sisters were going to mirror the Blue Queen Illian and her sister Daphne and it was going to end up that Jules was actually a fourth queen (blue queen) that happened to be legion cursed, and she was the naturalist and katharine was actually a second elemental like Mirabella. And so when the two of them came together maybe they discovered Katharine’s elemental gift and she somehow ended up being the one to die/sacrifice herself and that’s how they got rid of the mist. IDK, this is just what I wished happened 😂. And as the “blue queen” Jules technically would be the one to wear the crown in the end but maybe they would come together as the three remaining sisters and abolish this broken system and create a new Fennbirn! I wish.

I Hate the end. I was waiting the entire book Katharine to be free from the dead queen and rise her naturalist gift but she never does. Jules does not lose no one important in that final fight, no one, not even emilia, and Katharine lose everything, that feel not real for me. My favorite was Kat and Mirabella, and they deserve a better Ending, i always hope one of this two end in the Throne, the series have a good world and character but a weak final plot, maybe i dont read more books of Kendare Blake, im so dissapointed

I like Mirabella and Katherine's deaths because: Katherine was strong enough (emocionally) to kill Mirabella in order to preserve her from the Dead Queens. Also, in the end, Katherine also sacrificed herself in order to save Arsinoe. I Just love how incredibly strong Kat is. She was not a Poisoner, and had to grow up as one to the point that her true gift, the Naturalist gift, was supressed due to the poison. Yet, she was not malevolent, she was racional enough to save Mirabella from the Dead Queens. Other than that, I would like to see Arsinoe reigning instead of Juillene.

I 100% agree...the general summary of this series was: well that wasn’t satisfying. IMO, it never quite got the pacing right. It was either way slow or rushed to the point it was confusing figuring out what happened

I didn’t like Arsinoe all that much either. I didn’t like Jules either, lol. I wanted Kat to win 😢
