Five dos and don’ts for a long weekend getaway to Europe

If you visit Europe from North America on a long weekend, here are five dos and don'ts to remember. They are based on my personal experience completing multiple long weekend trips to Europe from the US
Five Dos
1. Do get to your destination by noon.
2. Do go straight to your hotel from the airport.
3. Do check into your hotel early, if possible.
4. Do a food tour.
5. Do stay near the major sights
Bonus - do relax, you are on vacation.
Five Don'ts
1. Don't risk your vacation with multiple flight connections.
2. Don't rent a car - you won't need one.
3. Don't take a nap your first day - stay awake until night.
4. Don't stand in long lines - book ahead.
5. Don't stay in the party scene.
Bonus - don't jam-pack your last day.
