Despite the fact the metal community loves to gatekeep and do 180's on bands the moment a band gets mainstream attention or breaks through as if all the sudden it means that band sucks or are sell outs smh 🤦 and no musical community does this worse. Too many share the mindset that a band becomes uncool to listen too or even hate on once they become popular... That only when a band is relatively unknown/underground are they worthwhile smh 🤦. FFDP were BELOVED in the underground thier first 3 albums but after that they became the target to hate on in the same exact way Nickleback somehow became the quintessential band to hate after they topped all the charts and everyone knew thier songs word for word... But FFDP never sold out. Never changed thier format simply to gain fans or radio play. They stayed true to form and exploded popularity wise rightfully so! They have been one of the rare bands who bridge the gap between metal and rap from covers like "Momma Said Knock You Out" by LL Cool J featuring Tech N9ne. As while as being featured on rap songs at least Ivan Moody that is. And this is another example. They must been hanging on to this for quite some time considering DMX died quite a while ago now. But unlike the metal/rock community gatekeepers labeling what bands are cool or trash. Or whats "cliche" to like. Ive never stopped jamming FFDP just as I never pretended to hate Nickleback just to fit in 🤷. I have rocked them consistently as well even when it was literally the unpopular thing to do lol. Maybe one day when hard working rock bands break through the community won't instantly turn on them but instead be happy they finally receiving the recognition they deserve and that more people are enhoying good music! Rock community is the only one who does this stuff. In rap its the opposite. I listened to artists like MGK, Joyner Lucas, Jelly Roll, NF, Dax, Tom Macdonald, Merkules, Hopsin, Yelawolf, Chris Webby, Vin Jay, Lil Peep, King Iso ect... LONG before they were anywhere close to being considered mainstream let alone successful 🤷. Most of them I found before thier KZbin page even had 100 thousand Subscribers! Now guys like Nf, MgK, Joyner, Dax have over 6 MILLION 🤯🔥. Never once do I see original fans hating on them or trying to make it the popular move to dislike them. Instead they are STOKED for the success and that others are experiencing great music and finding the same beauty/therapy in the same songs they did before those artists were household names. Its just metal community thay be toxic gatekeeping. Shoot I know guys who were HUGE Atilla fans thier first 4 albums but now REFUSE to listen to them and call them weak since their mainstream success smhb
