hi dan, I grow multiple grape varieties( all from Lidl and Aldi ) in my garden in the east of the Netherlands. My garden is 6 m wide x 20m deep on the west😉What I grow on the north W = wine T=table P = Pixie : Marechal Fochs (w), lakemount (T), Bianca (T) , Van der Laan (T), Thurgau (w), Boskoop (t) , pinot noir (wp), riesling (wp). cab franc (Wp). most of them are in the ground except for the pixie varieties, they are in pots. hope this helps. keep making these informative videos for us as they are very helpfull.

I actually planted 2 plants following your videos, they have grown well, both east facing , we’ll chop back in a few weeks, 1st year of growth 👍 and they had grapes 😊

Got given a couple of grapes saplings yesterday. I'm not sure of the variety, but it's in my greenhouse in SE England. I'll try not to kill them over the winter months :)

Hi Dan i grow Zilga grape northern grape grows and harvest really well up north even if a poor summer ! I have given loads of grape cutting to people around my area most take and become a new grape vine. i have had over 4 shoe boxes off them this year.

Dad's had grape vines for over 30 years. Even if he prunes well they always come back. Get sweeter every year. I am definitely going to grow some soon ❤

Hi there...I've got lemon and orange trees only around a foot or so tall but they are 5 years old and survived 5 winters in my garden in South off England ...I think citrus are generally tough once established...I also did the same with avacado plants and also pomegranate all survive the British winter it appears...not sure if they could handle snow but they have toughed it out and I will take them somewhere n put in ground n hopefully they turn into full trees ...cheers mate

@@homegardens7682 Would Bubble wrap help you reckon Dan ...I was pondering lining a pot with bubble wrap on inside and outside...my other little trick mate I cut a circle off tin foil or better mylar sheet it's only cheap you know those silver like rescue sheets that emergency services may wrap you in...but yh cut a circle off it out and cut a hole in the centre then one line cut too centre and you can sit it on top your plant pot around the stem basically making a reflective layer so when sun shines down rather than being waisted in soil or absorbed in the soil it rebounds back up and hits the underside off your leaves so get more sun food essentially just a little idea always works well for me in summer....you think that good or bad idea mate 🤘👍👍

@@jshaw4757 They are all considerations but it all depends on the amount of work one wants to make themselves. Some people even use Christmas tree lights to warm up the plants. A great option is keep it light so it can be brought in during the cold months.

There’s so many blue purple grape varieties that look very similar. Muscat bleu, boskoop glory, regent, merlot etc I wonder if they all taste different to one another or mostly similar flavour profile?

WARNING; sarcasm rising; I really enjoy watching a bloke eat grapes. This could have easily been titled, "bloke eats grapes!" Lol Did you serve your apprenticeship at the Ealing Studios? I liked the bit where 'Dan eats grapes' with a branch coming out of his ear. Lol Seriously though Dan, you're one of the foremost grape figures on KZbin, so where's the meat & potatoes? What are your rooting considerations? What's the blisters on those leaves, & how do you propose to deal with it? What about training, & how did you accomplish running behind the building? I watched to the end in case you dropped a nugget of useful information, & the only thing you dropped was rotten fruit. Lol Thanks anyway Dan. PS The throwaway comment about sometimes it works hit home, especially to a learner like me. 👍

Hello yes, its doing fine, no problem. No fruit this year though but that's probably my fault, I have mulched it to improve the soil quality. Unlikely to ever get edible fruit in the UK though.

@@homegardens7682 Yes that seems to be the problem, the plants live but dont fruit here. Unfortunately with brexit breeding has become very difficult.

@@OsirusHandle one way I would consider trying if I could was around September, bringing the plant into a heated conservatory or even behind a large window to extend the season, just to give the plant a longer growing season. I do wonder if that would work. I don't have a conservatory or a suitable door place either so I can't try it at this time and it is a lot of effort for a non guaranteed result.

Sorry could you write the 5 varieties in your post, as I can’t work out the first one and reads as muscat blah in transcript and I’m sure that’s not correct :-) and or add text over the video with the name.
