Another great video buddy ! I smashed the like button and subscribed ! Here in the UK we can only get the white label JB, the double oak, the single barrel (at 95 proof for some reason ?), the pre prohibition rye, and the extra aged (not the new '7' version but the older version). Unfortunately I would love to try the bonded version but it's unavailable this side of the pond and the winter reserve hasn't hit our shores yet either. Some sound advice in this video and JB is a great distillery to be a starting point for anyone's Bourbon journey, thanks brother !

When I go to a bar I try something new and get it on ice. It is interesting to see how the flavor changes over time, as the ice melts more. Generally I prefer 100 proof, because it is usually cheaper than a higher proof. I tried the Benchmark Full Proof at 125 proof and about $25, but was not impressed. The 100 proof Old Grand-Dad, Early Times and Coopers' Craft are my rebuys. Also the 90 proof Bernheim Original Wheat Whiskey aged 7 years.

When I was working at distilleries I would tell people all the time it's interesting to put a large cube of ice with some full proof whiskey and taste how it changes as it dilutes. Always fun to find the sweet spot and take the ice out and enjoy. Solid choices by the way. Cheers!

ICe and the cooling will also change the taste. Suggestion. Three glasses ..... one straight, one with an ice cube...... and the third with a teaspoon of water - watch the water chase the oils in the whiskey. Do three tasting ..... at the start of the water ...... a few minutes later ...... a third tasting a few minutes later. I usually go in 5 minunte intervals.
