The game-changer for me was making Jesus Christ my Lord! He is the key to joy, peace and happiness. I too experienced sexual abuse as a child, and Christ alone put the pieces back together and opened the door to forgiveness. May you be blessed Patti! Merry Christmas

My mother gave this verse to me when I was 12, 4 months before she died. Don't look for the flaws as you go through life, But even when you have found them, It is wise and kind to be somewhat blind, And look for the virtues behind them. Author unknown. I have lived by this verse all my life and it helped me to be a better person.

Thank you so much for this. Honestly left me speechless and in tears and I wrote about this in my journal this morning. I have had the honor of meeting those 90 year old people daily by what I do for work. Those people who have lost everything and continue to have grit, love, compassion, laughter, joy, just everything to give. When I meet them, they are usually not feeling well at all (I am an RN in an emergency room), however they don't complain (even though they should!!), they share their story and their love. They keep me humble, and keep me understanding what is truly important in life. And they all will mention something that you have just mentioned Patty. Thank you so much for this. You are truly a blessing and dazzling soul.

Patty, I hope you know how wonderfully supportive you are. I'm sitting in Pasadena where my husband of 45 years has undergone a massive open heart surgery (3 valves replaced, 2 aneurysms grafted and 1 bypass). We live in Scottsdale. The hospital is locked down with no visitation since Thursday. We are medical (my husband a retired ophthalmologist and I'm an obsolete long retired ICU RN). He has survived the surgery and has been doing well (3days post op). There are issues but for the most part he should recover. We have lived a fairly simple life. No flashy cars, expensive extravagances....frugal. I'm so grateful we have the means to come here and have a gifted surgeon accomplish this feat. My adult son is able to be here with me. The challenges ahead at times seem daunting. Your video today helped me to focus on the wonderful life I have had with my difficult gifted amazing husband. I'm grateful. Life falls quickly into perspective when significant challenges occur.

I have a little story too. About 15 years ago, I began sharing my office with a male co-worker who came to be known as my "office husband." There was nothing romantic between us--we were both married--but we became the best o f friends. One day out of the blue, he asked, "You seem to have found the secret to happiness." I replied, "It's a choice I make every day. Some days you might wake up to a crap storm, but then again, there might just be a parade. So you have to get up and go see." This year has been so difficult, it made that choice harder and harder to make. I told a friend last month that "the happy is getting harder to find." Thank you for the reminder, Patti. Endure, avide, and survive.

I don't remember where I heard this, but I give credit to its author. "All worry is ingratitude in advance." It keeps the inner stressing at bay. Thanks for a great video. :)

I've time jumped back 2 years but this message is even more important after 2 years of adapting to the changing times. Jan 2022, I actually did pick a resolution and if I slip a thought, I'll check myself. It's taking my own advice. Be happy in the moment, in this day. Be truly present in it. Stop worrying so much about tomorrows or things I have no control of. The older we get, the more worried I get about my husband's failing health - more than my own. The what ifs again. It was stealing my joy! Can't allow that. Today is a full time job. I'm happy in it, I/we woke up and that's a hella good start!

I rewatched this one again today Patti. I needed the message to remind me. It's so important to me your messages. I'm still working hard of freeing my mind from worries. Worry is fear. Fear is what I learned from my abuser & those that seriously betrayed me. I can't quite forgive them yet but I can work on it & fear. It did make me sick, heartsick. It's future & what I can't control there that is my objective. Thanks for reminding me!

Thank you Patti!!! It's been stressful but we're still good. My son was living his life last year doing an internship at Washington DC for his Jr. year at college and had to leave due to covid and is now taking his senior year off. But all is well, because we are all still HERE. He was diagnosed Saturday with the virus, and my husband and I are waiting for our results, which will probably come back positive as we both aren't feeling well. This means we can't see my daughter who lives alone on her own. Yet....I am SO VERY thankful this year and enjoying our tree and decorations more than ever.....You have to pick and choose on what will "weigh you down and what will lift you up" I have to be off work for 2 weeks regardless but that's okay....I am THANKFUL. You look radiant and your earrings and top match your eyes. I'm so happy I found you a few years ago. Thank you for your wisdom. your knowledge, and for sharing.

A year after losing my Brian, my Dad oassed on what would have been Brians 30th bday.2 days later, my Mom passed. My Mom & Mom in law made Christmas so very special. Most days I am okay. The empty hole in my heart fir my child will never be gone. I decided to be grateful for the time we all had with Brian. He was an old soul. His family meant everything to him. He would soend weekend with his grandparents instead of his friends because Gramps needed help with the yard & Grandma needed help baking. He could see his friends after school. Everything you say is true. I choose to wake up & smile for just today. Tomorrow will come and Ill deal with that tomorrow.Happiness really is a choice!! I choose to be grateful for the memories. I cherish those. God bless you for taking your time to care for all of us enough to maje thus video. Happy holidays...God speed❤🙏❤

Worry robs us of strength while doing nothing at all about the problem. 4. Don't cross bridges you may never come to. I had a bad stroke 18 months ago. I have made a full recovery b/c of excellent care, hard work in five weeks of in-patient rehab, and continued outpatient rehab. Also, you better believe that God watched over me and does everyday. If I ever feel that I'm about to get down I just remember not being able to move a muscle on my right side, and I relish all the things I can do (which is everything!) Complete recoveries are rare, and I am more grateful than I can say. Of course, I feel sadness about the pandemic and all the truly hurting people. I do what I can to help, and as I approach my 73rd birthday, I pray for my country. I am thankful for you, Patti. Your wise words are needed, especially now.

I was fired in April because of Covid and just went ahead and retired at the end of the year. I have always been used to being busy. My husband had died in 2013 from a brain injury he received in 2008 and my mother died right after him in 2014 from alzheimers. I was primary caregiver for both of them, but just kept plowing through. Being home forced me to work through alot of residual feelings and I have. I enjoy your friendly and kind manner. Just wanted to let you know that you Christmas message really touched me. Betty, :)

You’ve made me cry. I’ve had similar experiences to you but I struggle to forgive. Even today with the smallest wrongs I find it difficult to forgive. I think that’s probably symptomatic of previous trauma. I know you’re right though - there is freedom in letting go. I so needed to hear this. You’re so wise and beautiful x

Thank you so much for your wise and kind words. I just soak it in! How I try to stay happy is 1. Knowing that there is someone bigger than I that has this! 2. Being in nature and observing it all. One day it may he the sky ,the frost on the ground, a flower, sunshine, different clouds, a breeze the smell of dirt or the ocean...3. As you stated, the simple things. I like old things and could take a simple item and admire it and think who owned it and used it before me. Arranging what I already have around, over and over makes it all so new.

Patti, I started following your channel several years ago, and at first I was just intrigued by how you continued to look so lovely as you grew older. But I soon grew to be drawn to your inner beauty and by how gracious you are. Your video today completely explains why your insides match your outsides! I completely agree with everything that you said, and would just add one more thing. I think that it is also life changing to assume the best of people. When they say or do something, it can be so easy to jump on it and go down a rabbit trail thinking that they means something entirely different than they intended. Maybe they did mean to be unkind or rude, or just maybe they just didn't realize how their words or actions would be taken. Giving someone the benefit of the doubt doesn't cost me a thing, but can certainly save me some frustration or upset. Thank you for being you, and have a wonderful holiday season.

I am not a worrier by nature, thank goodness!! It is just a big waste of time, causes depression, keeps you out of sorts, you name it, it isn't good for our health and well being!! Happiness is a choice, just listen to the dear 90 year old nursing home patient going to her room for the first time! The Bible says we are to be content with whatever state we are in and my husband and I choose every day to be happy no matter what!! This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!! Thank you for reminding us of this dear Patti!! Love and Hugs!!

God your lovely !!! Words of wisdom.... So happy you are doing youtube. I just love your videos and you make me feel joyful. I must say as a woman in mid life and realizing now how fast life goes by, i am learning to remember each day to be grateful for the love in my life., to be present here and now , present to my body which is always in the present moment. Grateful For life ! BTW your eyes are insane turquoise ! Happy you are healthy and ok (:

Merry Christmas to you and yours. I made the decision to be happy many years ago. I give thanks to God very morning when I first open my eyes. I pray a lot and am truly grateful for what we have. I try very hard to live by Faith and not by Fear. Stay safe and be well. Love the message. 😊💙🎄

Many years ago my first husband said before leaving "I can't make you happy." I replied "What a silly thing to say. I am responsible for my own happiness. Only I can make me happy. " Your show shows everyone how to do this.

I practice being grateful. I love to serve other people, especially my family, it brings me joy. I love to read, spend time outside in nature, grow my garden, tend to my chickens and rescue dogs, and find new recipes to make. Sometimes just taking a bubble bath and having a cup of herbal tea makes me happy. Or listening to great music. It truly is the simple things in life. And most importantly, having a great relationship with the Lord.
