@@TheBrothergreen 4.4 units - 3 oz Doctor Bird's Jamaican Rum 1 unit - 1.5 oz Campari 2.3 units - Lemon Hart 151 Rum 0.5 units - Maraschino Liqueur 0.4 units - Allspice Dram Total = 8.6 units or 69g of alcohol. This is pretty much considered binge drinking and increases one's risk of developing alcohol use disorder (www.alcohol.org/effects/blood-alcohol-concentration/). And from the looks of it, this isn't going to be your last drink of the week. But sure, its great to develop serious health issues, addiction, and have to pay for more alcohol than usual. Also, 25 shots (1.5 oz, 80 proof) is pretty close to an overdose.
@TheBrothergreen3 жыл бұрын
@@clyde2599 Okay, 8.6 "units" according to a measuring system that is not in common usage. Hell, according to that webpage, a "shot" is defined as 1.5oz of hard liquor (40% abv or above), rather than 1, which is the scale I was using. The term "units of alcohol" is not present anywhere on that page. Not that it matters, because you weren't correcting me; we are both talking about the same AMOUNT of alcohol, simply measured differently. (i'm guessing because bigger numbers are scarier?) As for developing alcoholism, that's not something that occurs by chance. Any attempt to threaten me with the "odds" that I will develop alcoholism (especially based on the scant little amount you know about me) just makes you a judgy a-hole. It has no actual bearing on the real world. I stand by what I said, "8.6 units" or "14 smurfs and a gurgle" is still just a light buzz. Lighten up and have a drink.

Oh also I noticed that you are using Blood Orange in one of the cocktails. They are in season now, and I urge anyone who thinks orange juice isn't a very exciting ingredient in cocktails - try Blood Orange instead! They have a much more saturated orange flavour, and really pop in all sorts of cocktails that use orange. You may have to play with specs because of the stronger flavour. Oh they also give any cocktail you make a nice red or pink colour. My wife loves the way Painkillers look with them, a nice light pink colour. Anything you make would probably be a 'variant' but IMO it's worth playing around with different fruit varietals

Come on now, 10 ingredients for a single cocktail? I can't even make a single one of these. A real shame, because I do want to make halloween cocktails at the party I'm hosting next weekend. I'll have to look elsewhere since delivery time for custom stuff in Sweden is usually a week and a half or so.
@TheEducatedBarfly5 жыл бұрын
FuttFel to be fair the Boo berry Fix is 3 ingredients, blueberry syrup can be made at home and you can sub corn whiskey for bourbon and the Bible John is 3 ingredients as well and a of them are readily available I would think even on Sweden: Campari, Blended Scotch and Cherry Heering... not saying make the drink just saying there are a few that are easier...
@FuttFel5 жыл бұрын
@@TheEducatedBarfly I can make the blueberry syrup, so it is possible to make it. I might try that one, altho I would have to make a very small amount of syrup since its such a niche ingredient that I've not seen in any other cocktail. As for Cherry Heering, I'm afraid that is something you have to special order, which takes about a week and a half. So it won't be here in time. I'm guessing Luxardo is not a good substitute here, because I do have that at home. (And Campari, but surprisingly not a blended Scotch. Just blended Canadian whiskies, ryes, bourbons and single malts, so I need to get myself a decent blended one soon) I intend to do a special order sometime in November, but that'll have to be for a yellow Chartreuse, some Bols mixers and a few other things which are used in a wide variety of stuff.
@TheEducatedBarfly5 жыл бұрын
FuttFel you can use a dry cherry liqueur like Marsaka or luxardo, but you have to add in a sweet component too. Not sure if you have access to Maurin quina quina? That would be a great sub too. I know that the zombie variations have tons of ingredients but I was trying to stay true to the spirit of the originals
@TheEducatedBarfly5 жыл бұрын
FuttFel consequently I’ll be doing a yellow chartreuse episode soon :)

@@TheEducatedBarfly Obviously, you should stay true to the originals. I'm just not sure how many of us can make the very elaborate ones.
