In the mid- to late-seventies, when stripped-down punk was exploding in the UK, Queen was obviously seen as a decadent, grandiose dinosaur of a glam-prog pop band. Punks and "new wavers" generally rejected Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones and the Beatles, too. It's a natural thing for a new generation to symbolically kill off its immediate predecessors. When it was time for the nutso middle section of the song, the band left the stage and there was just a light show, and it was obvious we were listening to a recording. The Walsh bit is puzzling to me. The bands had a great relationship, Queen even coming to see Kansas when they played in London. I went to two Kansas concerts, and in both the music that played when the lights were still on, and before the warm up band came out, was Queen. I hope I'll read this was out of context or sarcasm, but you never know. I loved both bands, anyway.

I wouldn’t say that, Kansas was and is one of the most greatest progressive rock bands of all time and Steve Walsh is one of the greatest rock vocalist of all time, so saying that they won’t have the amount of success Queen have is definitely not true, same thing with Oasis, the thing is they will be known in 100 years because Gen Z loves the band.

Sweet had a gripe with Queen in the middle 70s as they figured they were copying their style. They even wrote "Queen are a bunch of winkers" on their Give Us A Wink album cover. There's also a part of Bohemian Rhapsody that sounds like it's copied from Sweets song "Action". I think they ended up okay with each other at the end though.
@ZENOBlAmusic12 күн бұрын
Yes, it is quite hilarious. I like Sweet but obviously Queen did not copy them. The problem for Sweet was they began almost as a boyband they did not write their own material or play on their own albums at the start. It is a shame they did have the talent to do their own thing. But in those years you lost respect in the rock community if you did not do your own thing. Queen always did everything themselves even their production right from the start.
