I think you’ll like the Jessa trousers, they are pretty high waisted, make sure whatever fabric you use has a little bit of stretch in it. I’ve got a pair that I wear a lot and plan to grab some corduroy with stretch in for autumn.
@SecretLifeOfASeamstress2 жыл бұрын
Yes I’m a little worried they’ll be too high! I’ll have to toile them I think ugh 😩 😂! Cord ones will be lovely x

Nice choices. I think I will narrow my list to 5. I just want to sew everything. I have slowed down and made nice items with nice fabrics too. I enjoy the slow process and enjoy the quality better. I want to learn to use my serger.

That's my problem too, I'm not saying I won't make more than this but I want to be more focussed :) You'll love your serger x

I started off making the Anthea Blouse as written, but used a cotton something or another in my stash and I didn't love it. So before I finished it, I swapped it for the hacked version and it was magical how lovely it was. I've made the hacked Anthea twice now, but really want to make it a third time in a more quality fabric. Love your pattern choices for your Autumn & Winter sewing!

Ah that’s good to know thank you! I love both versions but I think the hacked might be best for me. Thank you for watching x

That viscose crepe is a good idea. I really want to make some long sleeve blouses and wear a waistcoat over them but was concerned about cold arms… Look forward to hearing if it worked!

Cold arms is always a concern for me I really feel the cold so end up spending most of winter in cosy knits! A waistcoat sounds like it would look lovely though x

I need a trench coat too. The one you chose looks both chic and casual. If I make one, it’ll be made from a viscose twill- drapey with substance. The one item for sure that I am making during winter is the Morgan jeans by Closet Core. I’ve bought the whole denim kit, pattern and some heavyweight, no stretch recycled denim from Core fabrics. They will be my first proper pair of jeans so I’m gonna go slow and make sure I get it right WITH a toile. I never toile anything but I’m in close to $100 for all the material so… there’s that!
@SecretLifeOfASeamstress2 жыл бұрын
I think a twill will work really well, drape will make it feel more casual I think. Those jeans sound like a good autumn challenge, I know what you mean about toiling I hate it but I think I'll need to with this trench too. Thank you for watching x

Love your atelier brunette fabric. My personal preference would be to make the unadulterated anthea blouse to showcase the fabric and it would be so autum wearable without amending.

Love your plans Sally and your trench coat will be a good piece to get up your skills! I love your Anthea blouse and think that fabric will be perfect. I agree with trying a pair of trousers. I have never made a fly zip or anything like that so they would be good for experience. My favourite for autumn are always dresses in midi length to wear with boots and I don’t like buttons all the way down as my work has cupboards which catch in the spaces 😂 so the Lyra is good for me or something similar. Can’t wait to see how you get on. My Whitmoor is nearly finished in red Axis worsted wool which is so cosy I will need a dress to match! I will knit another one in fluffy wool and am going to Yarndale at the weekend so will buy some there. Good luck with your plans xx

I think you will look amazing in those garments! However instead of matching black with black, try navy and warm brown. I think that combo will look stunning on you with your colours. :-) This winter I all about sewing jeans and knitting sweaters. I'm trying a new to me pattern company (I'm making I AM Sunshine jeans) and I'm quite excited to see how they turn out. Just need to lengthen them about 2-3 inches :-D

I love the Anthea blouse! It’s might even be my most used pattern 🤔 I’ve got 3 blouses, a straight forward one, and then two of the hacks. Two were made with cotton poplin and one in cotton lawn(that’s my favourite) . I then made the hacked version in viscose for my daughter, and used viscose and the hacked version as a pattern mash up for your competition. It’s a really lovely pattern, an enjoyable make. The only thing I would say is it comes up quite large. I’m quite big, bust 44”. I made the 18 first and it was unwearable it was so big, so I went down a size. They’re still quite large. I’ve just made the dress version in a size 14 and it’s much better. My daughter is a size 12 in rtw, I made her the size 10 and it’s plenty big enough. Hope that helpful. Look forward to seeing your version x
@SecretLifeOfASeamstress2 жыл бұрын
Ah that’s good to know thank you! I keep wondering whether I should make the standard version now rather than the hacked as it might be better for autumn and as someone else pointed out it would show off the fabric much better. Hmm good for thought. Thank you for watching xx

If you want a very easy way to sew a fly go to Tomkat Stitchery on KZbin. I use this method all the time and works perfectly. I actually had a pair of jeans that fit me perfectly and when they where a bit worn I took them to pieces (took a long time, but well worth it) and used to make a pattern of well fitting jeans. 😊
