as a scratch fnaf fangame dev (not out yet) i can say it's very true that a lot of fnaf games get drowned and sunken in studios filled with more and more games, in my freetime, i do like checking out underrated fnaf fangames tho (although some steal code but it's probably fine)

I agree, with most underrated games they can be hard to find and I wish they had a place to properly advertise without getting drowned in a mix of games that aren't on the same level as theirs, or games that are copies or unfinished. It's hard to say how that can be accomplished, but hopefully with channels that cover FNAF games on scratch will set the bar so we can easily see which ones are really good and which ones need more work while supporting those and teaching them ways to make their game better so things work out for both underrated devs, and starter devs👍👍

I've been making scratcg fnaf games since 2020 (which is 4 years ago!?!!) And recently i've released my newest fnaf fangame, (it's called Nights at Pepsico if you were wondering and it's also on gamejolt), and it's honestly one of my best games. it isn't a "scary" game, the jumpscare noises aren't scary, it's a joke game pretty much. to cut it short, i think this video represents my experience on scratch perfectly.

Scratch really needs something for all ages, they said all ages, but it's mostly children projects, what is adults gonna play? So we need something like a 6 year old play an 10 year old project, the scratch tean will not allow that! But some fnaf scratch projects is like 10 or 16 year old. If there's something not like that, then why did they say all ages?? [Edit] Alot of Scratch Users are adults now. They don't want to see children junk.

I started on scratch way back in 2016 and 7 years later the site has not seen any changes with the featured page and does still look like it is for kids which is completely fine, I mean we have underground communities that are full of people thats ages range from 15 to 20 on discord but unless you have connections with people from those communities you won't be able to join their discord. They say it's for "All ages" but I believe only the editor applies to that statement, the site itself does not have any separation of projects made by kids from the projects made by teens and young adults such as myself. Getting your project taken down due to some kid reporting it when the game isn't at all made for kids of that age range is pretty annoying, especially if the game gets shadow banned and only can be accessible through links or your profile. But who knows, maybe one day they will add age ratings to the site and make a come back. Imagine scratch with a user base as large as Roblox with the features it could add, such as a 3D editor or better support for online multiplayer games!

the scratch team is missing out on a lot of opportunities to release a scratch counter part with less restrictions on horror, because there is clearly a whole community for scratch horror but its all being squashed due to it being a "children's platform". What the team doesn't seem to realize is that scratch is one of the easiest websites for people to use in order to make their visions come to life in a wide range of genre's, but these limitations are keeping a lot of people away from their platform. Its a shame because it keeps a lot of people from wanting to pursue game dev at all

I agree with this word for word. While there are ways to use the platform without sharing any projects, it's really hard to even get noticed by the horror community you are trying to contribute to. It sucks we need to make underground communities outside of scratch just to share our creations, but at least we all get to help each other out

Back in Middle School, I made a fnaf fan game called "A Game at Greg's." It's gone now because I didn't know that school accounts get deleted after a few years. The game worked like this: You played as a mall security guard and your best friend "break dancing guy" acted as the phone guy who told you the game's mechanics. You have three cameras with three animatronics, each having one method in the office to deter them. Greg slowly moves to the bottom of the Movie theater screen but resets his position with the green button. Harriet the Horse rushes to the left side of the hall but gets scared off by the candlelight. Football Frank slowly moves to the right side of IKEA (yes really) but you can close the door on his face. Finally, the animatronics can't hurt you if you don't check the cameras, so every five seconds if you're not checking the cameras, everyone's pal "Decapitated Flying Squirrel Head" flies in and kills you.

TLDR: quantity can smother quality on Scratch As a FNAF fangame developer on Scratch, I cannot tell you how many studios I had to post my projects in, and how many times I got mildly infuriated when the game I spent about 3 months on got roundhouse-kicked down what felt like 15 pages by some people posting a bunch of their "One night at (insert low-effort idea / overused meme.)"

I agree with that, it used to be that way for me including a lot of other projects unrelated to FNAF as well, there needs to be like some kind of voting system in studios that could help out slightly with this problem

Also, in my opinion, you should be able to ban specific people from the studio if you're the owner. edit: The thing about good games being suffocated is particularly unfortunate because people spend absolutely forever trying to make the game good, trying to get good graphics (adding full detail to little things exponentially increases the time and effort needed), trying to Frankenstein the library sounds of the scratch editor into suitable fnaf sound effects, etc. And I see that get buried by games that have no effort. And the thing is, these people COULD probably make decent games, but they just don't want to improve. I'm truly sorry I wrote an entire essay out of frustration, Sincerely, a pretty bad game designer.

Game 1 "Fiānaito" Game 2 (UNRELEASED AS OF TYPING THIS) "Fiānaito 2: The story of Jake" Edit: I have now finished Fianaito 2! Oh, and maybe also 3 more games..... and now I made 2 demos for the next one! It has been slightly difficult to create but it has been pretty good still

I know my way around scratch and have had so many ideas for a game but it just seems like a daunting task. Do you deal with that or how would you go about starting?

I always start out with concept art and a little bit of designs for the characters before getting into the code. Most times I don't know what I'm doing with the programming part of things, because every time I make one of these fnaf games they are always drastically different at least from a coding standpoint. You've just gotta go in with a goal and a positive mindset, and ask yourself "is this a game I'd play?" Don't just make a game for others. Make it for yourself too👍
