Here's my thing: If you were expecting straight-up horror without lore, which feels like a lot of critics were, I assume you only played FNAF 1, and this wasn't for you. If you were expecting something to loyally follow the canon from head to toe, more reasonable expectation, just not what we got. I went in there expecting a retelling of familiar elements in a new context - best comparison I can think of is the Power Rangers TV Show versus the Power Rangers 2017 movie. And in that regard, this puppy SLAPS! It is a love letter from top to bottom, even without Toreador (pretty sure that's the name of that soundtrack you called out for not being in the movie; and given how we got THE LIVING TOMBSTONE as the credits track, it was a fair trade). And it had horror moments, few enough for someone like me who hates horror usually to feel comfortable, but also give me that Litmus test of if I want to dip my toes all the way back in. Then again, I'm a guy who joked about Security Breach Freddy doing a "We are Venom" joke with Gregory inside him, so what do I know?

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this movie! I watched it with my friend and it was great. Seriously I could pick up on the 4Shadowing and Afton was truly terrifying. Seriously it was a lot of fun.

Nice review from both of you. I saw the movie in theaters and thought it was OK. It will surely please the FNAF fans, but I was disappointed in the lack of scares, especially when A) PG-13 movies are capable of being more scary to maintain the rating, and B) I agree with DS about Coraline (which had a PG rating) being more scary. Though for the few moments that were scary, they did pay off. My only nitpick with your video is that for DS' score, you used a black border with a black screen, so it looked non-existent. I personally would've done red or grey, or at least make the screen just a bit brighter, but that's just my personal preference. I would probably give the movie a 6 or 7/10 as well, and I personally don't see myself watching it as much as Detective Pikachu, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, or the Sonic films.

Honestly I think it was a really fun movie but I do have three major issues with the movie One: the security doors where not featured or used at all. Two: Aunt Jane just sort of vanished and a dead body in Michaels house would be pretty incriminating and due to his already bad reputation (beating a man up in broad daylight) he would probably go to prison for "killing" his aunt and the police wouldn't belive him if he said a giant animatronic mascot possessed by a dead kid did it. Three: the Freddy power outage wasn't in the film.

The Banana Splits Movie was alright. Willy's Wonderland on the other hand was so fun. I really enjoyed Willy's Wonderland. Anyway, the actual FNAF movie is amazing. I liked Michael Afton's character.

Honestly it surprised me how many people hated the bonding with the animatronics scenes and forget the fact that THESE ARE CHILDREN.

The main problem with that is the animatronics are meant to be scary. Even though they're possessed by kids, they're also quite murderous and vengeful. So the sequence where they bond ruins any horror the animatronics might have had before.

@tonysonic456 fair enough, honestly if the movie had more scary scenes with the animatronics people wouldn't complain that much. But honestly it felt refreshing to me seeing a softer side. Also, disagree on your Willy's Wonderland take. Nicolas Cage always elevates a movie to an ironic enjoyment .
