While problem solving in the real world is a very creative process with many ways to approach each unique situation, there are some general steps you can take to help improve your problem solving skills when it comes to mathematical and scientific questions! Here we discuss those five steps and show how to apply them with some real world problems and applications.
Math The World is dedicated to bringing real world math problems into the classroom and answering the age old question “when will I ever use this?”
We use unique topics for algebra, trigonometry, calculus, and much more and go beyond context problems and use a technique called mathematical modeling to find solutions to real world questions and real world problems. These videos are great for students who plan to enter technical fields that require real world problem solving, and can be a great resource for teachers looking for ways to bring real world contexts into their classroom.

One of the things I really like about this channel is that you weren't afraid to just plug things into a calculator, or just do numeric integration, or just look at the graph and try to get something "close enough". While math is powerful because of its precision, problem solving is powerful because you don't always need that much precision.

When you get to modeling political, remember that people don't generally switch which politician they support. Rather, you are trying to motivate enough people already on your side to show up to vote instead of staying home feeling defeated.

You are right on. I know some political campaigns that are focused with this idea in mind. They are not trying to change the way voters will vote, just to try to get the voters that will vote "your way" out to the polls. I think there is probably an interesting result including the "feeling defeated" idea in the model.

Uh... in high school we weren't even told that equations had use in real life. I discovered it many years later watching an European TV series about Einstein. Maybe if these things were at least *mentioned* in school there wouldn't be less science-denialist and flatearther people who believe maths are just mumbo-jumbo.
