When should I start preparing my personal statement if I plan to go to university in the September intake of 2024?

You probably should've already written it 🫣 The deadline for my Oxford MA is on the 19th of January 2024. It could be that your course has a different deadline, but I strongly advise you to look into it asap! You need your references and transcripts as well.

@@lukas97671 MA is postgrad :) However I remember the deadline for mx undergrad was also sometime in December/January

Thanks for the tips! Why would you suggest including 20% of extracurriculars? I thought Oxford doesn't consider extracurriculars at all, no?

@@physics3632 Really? I remember watching a video saying being an excellent athlete won't help you get into Oxbridge, unlike Ivy league schools. So it doesn't matter as much as American unis, but Oxbridge still takes those leadership positions or athletic activities into account? Or is extracurricular limited to the stuff related to the course you're applying for?

@tarek7451 I’ve heard that you should relate it to transferable skills-so if you play a sport, say it’s given you improved teamwork, endurance, leadership, etc.

@@physics3632This is wholly incorrect. Oxbridge explicitly state that they do not care one bit about your extracurriculars. But some other universities do, and hence you are not recommended to refrain from talking about them altogether.
