I can't remember now referencing my post on CumminsForum from when I did it I posted this: ----------- The 48RE is approx. 27” The G56 29”. Because of this you will need to either swap front drivelines with one out of a G56 or have 2” added to it. The rear driveline will need to be swapped out of a truck with the same configuration truck, or have 2” removed. I had 2” removed from mine and it was proably ⅛” to ¼” too much. You’re safe to go 1.75” to 2” on your length adjustment. ------- You should Double check measurements between outputs and driveshaft yoke and share that with your driveline shop. The spline count difference between the 48 and the G56 is the output of the transmission to the input of the transfer case. Drive shafts connect the same.

Just did this swap on my 2006... Used an Nv5600 instead, but the work is similar. I have not reprogrammed my truck yet, so it thinks it's in park all of the time. I had issues with the wiring on mine. I could not simply ground the wire (or use the clutch switch to ground it), it would not crank at all when I did that, I had to use the range sensor off the 48re transmission to get it to start. I had to basically close it so it thinks it is in park... Also I swapped column covers like you and removed the old auto shifter. The truck would crank but not start, so I had to plug the old auto shifter in, ground the base, and shove it up under the dash for now... Hopefully all that will go away after I reprogram it. Seems like everyone who does a swap has a different story when it comes to wiring...

I have an 06’ and the 48RE is getting ready to go out. I’ve been juggling the idea of manual swap for a couple years now and am ready to squeeze the trigger on it. Before I do that I need to make sure I have everything I need to do it. Would you mind helping me out with this? Thanks, I appreciate your time.

Had that same problem with the SB clutch and swapped to SB organic dual disc clutch and it is awesome for towing and daily driving

Show de bola, aqui no Brasil muita gente está trocando a caixa automática por uma manual e também descartando o 4x4. Obrigado pelo vídeo.

I would think If you ground the wire for starting all the time the cruise control will probably not work. It will think the clutch is in all the time. Thank you for the video.

Your logic is solid, but I did bypass the clutch safety switch for a little while (several weeks) when I was doing troubleshooting on the cooling fan/ECM issue last summer and it surprisingly didn't seem to affect the cruise control.

Did your factory high idle still work normally? Or what did you have to do?
@vengethis4 жыл бұрын
There are 2 options for high idle... .one the automatic one where it comes up all on its own when the temp is low and the truck sits for 2 minutes it comes up to 1100 rpms all on it's own, drops back to idle when you start moving or press the brake. This worked when it was an auto, this still works as a 6 speed. The second option is where you manually control it. In the auto, while in park, you could set the cruise and it would jump up to 1100, and you could use the accel/decel buttons on the steeringi wheel to move it between 1100 and 1500 rpms. I had this option activated at the dealer when the truck was new in 2005, but after the swap, it does not work. To my understanding, is only available in the auto trucks, and not available in the 6 speed ECMs. I never looked further into it than that.

Back 40 Family Farm sorry to hear that! Do you have any other suggestions on what I could do? I did the swap and everything following your video religiously haha as well as the posts you’ve done on a couple forums. The truck runs but right when it turns on the check engine light comes on with a million codes about no info coming from the trans lol. After I shut it off it doesn’t turn back on until the codes have been cleared.. kind of a bummer haha..
