Looks sooo much better without those dated valances! I'm a big fan of DIY upholstered headboards - you choose your materials/fabrics and can even make one out of multiple smaller pieces (squares, hexagons, etc) to fit your space. Can't wait to see what you guys decide!

White bead board is bright and cheery for the headboard wall, or horizontal stained wood would be cozy if you’re not planning to paint the overhead cabinet. RV manufacturers: Ditch the valances in favour of tinted windows!
@Five2Go4 жыл бұрын
The windows are tinted and you can't see in during the day, but when it's dark out it's pretty easy to see inside if the lights are on. They should just do nice curtains and stop putting all that heavy stuff around all the windows! Knowing the trends though, they'd put in curtains that are huge and clunky with a pattern from the 60's! 🤣

We were talking about taking the dinette out of whatever motorhome we bought, but this one is actually comfortable and big enough for us to fit in it. We were surprised! My first KZbin comment!! 🤭😁 You guys are a joy to watch. Family is so important - they grow up sooooo fast. Enjoy your family time! 🥰🤗 My husband and I removed our headboard as well. We are looking into thin stainless steel sheet for mirror effect to make space look bigger. (We are in a B+) Comes in 4'x8' sheets that adhere to wall. Price is not too bad - about $85. We are torn tho. I like the other suggestions as well. Looked at foam adhesives but don't like brick pattern and couldn't find other patterns. Battle of removing valances...... Me no - he yes. After seeing what a difference it made for you, I think HE just WON!! 🤣😂

The place looks so much roomier without those horrid things! I’d toss them, though for resale, some people actually like them 😜. You could layer your curtains or have “hot sun beaming in” ones in storage underneath for swapping out. A lot easier than putting those “things” up, I do that for our living room, light weight ones for winter & darker heavier for the hot day(s) of summer. I’d paint the walls, the cabinets are nice looking & with cleaner looking walls they will look really good & classy. And help lighten up the whole rig. Headboard area: I like the look of shiplap wallpaper, a light colour of course.

We are replacing our trailer valence and shapes with light colored a shade curtain made out of the reflective emergency blankets and a light colored curtain. The reflective emergency blanket will reflex the damaging part of the sun but let some light in. The curtain will also reduce the sound that bounces on the hard walls and cabinets while giving privacy.

RV Manufacturers should have those tacky valances as "options" and not just cram them on every RV they make. I also wish they had choices of interior wall and cabinet colors instead of the cookie cutter dark wood. A lot of people seem to paint their own interiors with lighter colored paint. This really adds light to a dark interior.

Taking the blinds down is a mistake in my opinion unless you are replacing them with something else. @@Five2Go Figured you must be doing something which is why I said I will wait to see the finished product. I do agree those surrounds were bulky, although I do like those types of blind. Love your changes so far. You should do thin shiplap where the headboard used to be!!!
@Five2Go4 жыл бұрын
What color would you do?

@@Five2Go Hmmm my vote would be either white, or a really light colored wood, or perhaps white washed light wood? I'd prob get a small sample of each and see which I liked most. But generally lighter colors to keep space feeling open etc.
@Five2Go4 жыл бұрын
We've liked a lot of the whitewashed woods that we've seen, it looks really nice!

I would do a ship lap wall paper for the head board wall. Love you motor home.

A stick up faux tile wall would look nice, there are some really cool designs out now.

What kind of pattern or colors would you do?
@Beckylem14 жыл бұрын
@@Five2Go I personally like the look of subway tile a straight clean line. They have them in different shapes now. Color I guess depends on what color palate you will be using for your bedroom. I personally go for either a real soft blue or gray tones. Taking down those valances sure was a big improvement! I can't wait to see what kind of window treatments you put back up.

I wouldn’t keep them unless you really have extra space. It looks much brighter I like that! The headboard area... I’ve seen really nice padded headboards! We have cats so maybe for us a scratching post headboard lol! Seriously we love them and will not declaw so it’s been a problem. Trying to figure out solutions!
@Five2Go4 жыл бұрын
Haha, no cat scratching issues in our rig! We should have plenty of room in one of the crossover areas in the underneath storage for them. We took things out of our last rig that we didn't touch in almost two years of full timing, so we'll have even less stuff with us this time around! Gotta get rid of all the extra junk!

We didn't plan it that way, but we just haven't decided what to put back up on there yet... Stay tuned!

That’s a great idea. It sure seems to make it lighter and bigger. I can’t wait for what’s next. Is your dog a golden doodle? He is so chilled. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Michael! Vector is a mini goldendoodle - half poodle, one quarter golden, and one quarter cocker spaniel. He has been our "old man" since day one, he's super chill and just loves laying around and relaxing.

I have a 2020 winnebago 32 ft motorhome... and YES I am going to do the same thing. One of the blinds is already broke... So I'm going to do them all.. and my head board is already loose. The valances are junk, and don't look good at all. But I still need to find something better. So I'm going to wait to see what you do and how it looks.
@Five2Go4 жыл бұрын
We're still trying to decide on what to put back up to cover the windows, but whatever it is, it's going to be way lighter and look a ton better!

I would just reupholster the headboard and smash it back up. I do not understand why they put the valances up. They are a ton of work and so dated looking.
