Most important is that the Oil Must be a Jaso MA, or what the specifications for the bike says since the Bikes or most I should say, uses wet Clutch.

For the sake of 50c , change the sump washer. Don’t want leaks especially on a bike. Also warn the engine oil up first

tanks for the video after changing my oil I put synthetic oil in my CBR 1000 and because I was getting a hard shift into first gear and it's better but not great do you know what causes this and does your CBR 1000 have hard shift into first gear
@FiveFiveGarage
@FiveFiveGarage 6 жыл бұрын
Did you just make the switch to synthetic? I switched after my first oil change ( literally the first oil change) and noticed that it took some time before the gearbox smoothed out. They do have a "clunk" when going into first gear but other than that no other issues in about 10 yrs of ownership (bought the bike brand new).
@danporter9363
@danporter9363 6 жыл бұрын
Yes I just changed it today because I noticed that after getting it changed at 1,500 miles at the dealership it started getting a harder and harder to shift it has 2400 miles on it it was shifting perfect until about 2 weeks ago now it's very hard in first gear and kind of feel clunky throughout the second and third
@FiveFiveGarage
@FiveFiveGarage 6 жыл бұрын
It *should* get better, I know that after I switched it began to improve as I rode it. Then about a month later I changed it again and it was much better, gear changes required little pressure on the shifter to get into gear. It gets a little pricey but try changing it again in about 2-3 weeks and it *should* be much better!

i changed both oil & filter. I pour in about 3 quart of oil first to make sure i dont over fill it. start the bike and let it idel couple of mins then took it around my neighborhood . the low oil indicator was not on, so i thought i'm ok. turn the bike and check oil lever in an upright position. the oil level is a little above the lower line. so go ahead and fill it up with another 1/2 quart of oil. try to start it but it wont start. it doesnt try to crank or anything. when i push the start button everything sounds normal but wont start.what could be the problem?

How often do you recommend changing the oil? The manual says every 8000miles which I feels is too high, maybe every 3000 miles should be better I guess?
@FiveFiveGarage
@FiveFiveGarage 3 жыл бұрын
Depends on if you are running synthetic or Dino oil and how much you ride/ track it. When I was actively riding it (daily) I would do it twice a season (April-October), now I do it once (and ride it less). With modern synthetic oil going 8000mi between changes isn't an issue, make sure to use a high quality oil filter.

@@FiveFiveGarage Currently am only using it for street use and am running synthetic oil. The guy in Honda service told me every 1500 miles as 2008-12 CBR 1k's burn a lot of oil. I will monitor the oil levels every 500 miles and then decide
@FiveFiveGarage

Oh man, what is the best oil is debate minefield!😄 I have used Mobil 1 in the past but currently I am using Shell Rotella T6 for the past couple years now and have been very pleased with it. Whatever oil you decide to use make sure that it has the JASO MA specification.

Do you have to run full synthetic. Or could I use a part synthetic?
@FiveFiveGarage
@FiveFiveGarage 5 жыл бұрын
I run a full synthetic. If you are going to do more frequent oil changes (i.e. bike sees track duty) going with a part synthetic would be better and cheaper. But I always tell people to use what they have the easiest access to. As long as you are keeping up on the oil change intervals either oil will be perfectly fine.

Nope. Rotella T6 is the only oil I have used in this bike since its 500 mi first oil change. I am the only owner ( I watched them take it out of the crate) and I have had zero oil issues. I've done track days, trips, and it is my main summer transportation for 12 years ( bike is an '08, bought in Feb '08). Still on the original clutch and the bike shifts like it was brand new.
