For the record, Texas High School Football is sacred, almost a religion. These people will drive from El Paso to Beaumont, the entire length of the State of Texas, east to west (12 hours, nearly 850 miles), to watch their HS home team play in an away game. ESPECIALLY during the State Championship tournament. If that means shutting down the town so people can go, they will do it. The movie Friday Night Lights (2004) and TV series with the same name (2006-2011) portrays the entire culture pretty well. Imagine playing in the stadium in the intro, then eventually make it to the NFL and end up with the disappointment of playing at Northwest Federal Credit Union Stadium, previously known as FedEx Field.

While not the official stadium, I went to marshall high in Portland before it closed down. Marshall's campus is only a few blocks from walker stadium, the ballpark the pickles use. At the time the pickles didn't exist but the city kept up the stadium. Our high school's baseball field was AWFUL. Felt like you were sliding on concrete and the orientation of the field had every one staring into the sun except for the third baseman, catcher, and batter. As a pitcher it sucked. So, we always just played our games at walker stadium. High school players and their coaches from a public school team jumping the fences to use a city's stadium. No one ever stopped us. Was a pretty sick place to play lol.

Couple things to note here: I work in Allen ISD and I drive by that stadium a ton. It's pretty wild to look at. Allen did win four state championships after the stadium opened, mostly because some kid named Kyler Murray went there and won three in a row. Melissa was kinda getting dunked on in this video for having such a small school population, but when you look at the city geographically and compare that to another city with a stadium on this list, Prosper, whose population has utterly exploded over the past 10 years or so, it's understandable why Melissa built a stadium because their city government anticipated this growth. According to wikipedia, their city's population was only 557 in 1990 and over the course of 30 years has grown to over 15,000. Melissa's city population has even doubled from 2018-2022.

Just before halftime the band asked for the help of some parents in moving some of their equipment into place for their halftime performance. I volunteered and upon stepping onto the brand new Field Turf my nose was invaded by its very strong chemical smell. Children’s Health in Prosper now hosts 3 Prosper ISD High Schools and will soon add a 4th. However, the residents reached their limit when the school board proposed a ridiculous 94 million dollar 8,000 seat overflow stadium (4000 seats less than Children’s Health). That bond was soundly defeated last year. Even Texas has its limits when it comes to football!

Well damn my high school where I played is right next to all these in the DFW area and its just a typical garbage small high school field. Being on the "wrong side of the tracks" sure does make a difference.

I remember going to the challenger memorial after visiting the Johnson space center in Houston and just before there’s a high school stadium seeing the parking lot and thinking holy s**t this is high school. And to think this is 10000 and my 62000 stadium in Tottenham has zero parking 😂😂😂

A few years ago I was covering high school football for the Austin American-Statesman and got sent to a game at a stadium in Round Rock. The press box was massive and fully catered. I once accompanied a friend of mine to the press box at Ball State University in Indiana and it was pathetic by comparison.

I feel like Ralph Engelstad Arena in Thief River Falls, MN (Not the one in Grand Forks that is for the University of North Dakota) is the Minnesota HS hockey arena equivalent of Texas HS football stadiums.

Living in North Dallas, these stadiums here are INSANE. I can walk to the Star its pretty awesome.

It's crazy how much parking each of these stadiums has... check out the MCG in melbourne australia, 100k capacity and lucky to be 500 car parks. I was at the SCG in Sydney on the weekend, 45k people and again there'd be space for maybe 1000 cars and that's it

I played at Mesquite, and that radio tower is awsome

I’ve said this before but the UFL teams in TX should play at one of the high school stadiums to give a better appearance of attendance on tv. These stadiums are just as nice as the college stadiums but smaller. They could pack the stadium with fans and make it look like their games are sold out.

I remember playing a football game in middle school where the field literally had a bump around the 30 yard line. Normally this wouldn't be a problem. But when I say bump, I mean a good 10 foot around diameter foothill was just hanging out and they painted over it. It is a miracle no one tripped and got hurt.

Going into this vid I was expecting a good majority of these to be in Texas and I was not disappointed Texas just loves High School Football

All of the school districts in Texas mentioned in this video have free/reduced cost meal programs. Nobody is going hungry.

A list where Ratliff Stadium, Challenger Stadium, and Katy ISD’s new stadium don’t make it is craaaaaaaaazy
@A350Airways4 ай бұрын
The worst in all that is that Ratliff Stadium also hosts a college team, namely UTPB (albeit Division 2)... and UTPB can't fill it while Permian or Odessa can both fill it for some reason.

As a Michigander from a HS with a little dinky football stadium, having lived in Dallas for the last several years I'm constantly dumbfounded by the HS stadiums I pass by on a regular basis down here
