With the offense struggling the defense started going down, also being affected by Posluznys retirement, but mainly due to being on the field for 40 minutes of the game. Pretty accurate summary of life as a Jags fan. I will say cutting Garrard was something that caught a lot of fans off guard. He wasn’t a bad player, but he couldn’t get us to where we needed to be. The problem is Gene Smith went against Del Rio and traded up 10 spots for Blaine Gabbert. It spiraled downward from there. The thing with Leftwich as a player, Del Rio didn’t want him but the general manager that was there before Smith did. So, there was already a divide within the organization then and it hasn’t changed now. The Urban Meyer saga was so nauseating to where ibuprofen proved ineffective. I felt like Tom Grossi when it came to the Aaron Rodgers stuff; I just want to focus on football. But I can’t cause I have to hear something about Meyer. This season was a disaster, but at least we figured out the quarterback position (finally). My team does need a culture change and whether it’s Leftwich or Pederson (my two preferred candidates), it’s the first step towards achieving it. I think Baalke’s gone once we decide on a HC and the O’Brien thing is all smoke. I just hope Shad makes the right hire at HC, something he hasn’t done

@holdenmcmillen43072 жыл бұрын
@@moblinmajorgeneral Shad may not have made some good decisions when it comes to improving the football team, but you can’t blame the man for trying. He tried hiring a high rising defensive assistant (Gus Bradley) and it failed, promoting in house (Doug Marrone & Trent Baalke (tbd)) it didn’t work, and having a splashy hire (Urban Meyer) and it blew up spectacularly. While these moves haven’t worked, you can’t blame the man for trying. Plus, he’s doing good work in the community and helping to keep the team in Jacksonville with a 4 season hotel near the stadium on the dock, preservation efforts for Metropolitan Park, a new football facility, and a renovated stadium. What he does need is a football advisor, someone who can help him make better decisions

WOW! You glossed over the long term reasons why the team became so bad and spent half the video talking about 2021 (Urban Meyer and Trent Baalke). The true beginning of the Jaguars down slide begins with the final four years of the Weavers owning the team. Wayne Weaver was asset rich, but cash poor. He was cutting the operating budget of the team every year during his final years of ownership, cutting front office staff and reducing the money available for premier coaching staff. This is one of the main reasons he sold the team. Shad Khan is a Billionaire compared to Weaver being a Millionaire and had the assets to make the changes needed. During the purchase, he made his first mistake by following Weavers strong encouragement to keep Gene Smith. Smiths coach of choice was Mularkey and that combination proved disastrous as the 2-14 season showed. Khans next mistake was hiring Caldwell. Caldwells choice of Gus Bradley looked good on paper but proved to be another complete mistake with the team never winning more than 5 games in a season under him. This mistake was compounded by hiring interim coach Marrone as the fifth HC. Khan had the right idea of bringing in a knowledgeable football guy to lead the team and brought back Tom Coughlin. This worked for the first year of the experiment with the Jags getting their sole winning season under Khans ownership and almost making it to the Super Bowl. TCs abrasive style backfired in 2018. The contract extension to Bortles and not paying star defensive players caused the team to implode. This cascaded to the point we have in 2021 with the hiring of Urban Meyer and the abysmal season . Khan should go and hire a true knowledgeable football guy who also has the ability to navigate todays NFL, but it looks like he is making his next mistake by retaining Baalke.

Quoting the Urinating Tree: "This is a loss you don't recover from." Look at the Atlanta Falcons after Superbowl LI. Check out the Houston Texans after their implosion during the 2019 AFC Wildcard game. Observe the Jaguars after the nightclub incident in London, England, back in 11/2018 And things have steadily gotten worse for those mentioned teams.

I’m a gigantic AEW fan and that line about AEW being the main focus is very true and to be honest it should be. Shad’s son Tony is doing a remarkable job with the promotion and he’s even brought it to the point of stepping up to WWE due to how good the AEW shows are. Shad has no involvement in AEW as well besides investing in it and co-owning it in name only.

Caldwell is an awful game manager but the players loved him here in Detroit. Transitioning away from the much hated Urban Meyer, I don't think Caldwell is a bad hire. He's probably not winning them a Super Bowl but he can usher in a much needed change in the culture.

The Jaguars are bad? In other news, Florida is a peninsula Oof, that very close score in the last quarter reminds me of the Jets vs Buccaneers game on the 2nd of this year...the one where Antonio Brown took his shirt off. I was like "How is the defending Super Bowl champs losing against the JETS?! What timeline are we living in?!"...and then the Jets blew it and the Buccs scored with fifteen seconds left in the game. Back to our regularly scheduled programming. Honestly, if I was losing against the Jets, I too would take my shirt off.

It was actually determined in court that long island is a peninsula... Jaguars=Bad Long Island=not an island
@legowagfles72872 жыл бұрын
@@vinnyzan1 legally and politically yes. Geologically no, it is a natural island. SEVERAL scientists disagreed with the decision. The states only wanted the court to say it was a peninsula so the states control the waters rather than the federal gov. Yes, the East River is a tidal strait but you have to look at how Long Island was formed and compare it to Manhattan. Much of Manhattan consists of exposed bedrock hundreds of millions of years old, while Long Island is mostly *loose sand* and didn’t exist as a distinct entity until it was built up by bulldozing ice sheets around 150,000 years ago. This implies that Long Island isn’t an extension of the mainland
@vinnyzan12 жыл бұрын
@@legowagfles7287 I tryed to post the article that explains the whole thing but youtube doesn't like links. @Gungho732 жыл бұрын
The frustrating thing for their fans I'd say is when you look at teams like how the Jaguars are win percentage wise, you think okay. The team doesn't pay their players, or open the pocket book in free agency. Maybe they dont take care of the facilities to the point people can get infections. Fight over language in rookie contracts despite standards being set. They get in the way of the coach and dont let them coach, or hover over GM decisions and force them to draft players they might not even find are worth that draft slot. All of these are issues I see continually with some of the worst teams in the league over last couple decades. And Jacksonville appears to not be that team. In fact their owner seems highly dedicated to bringing a winning product there, lets the GM/Coach typically (this year notwithstanding as the firing of Meyer felt necessary) work things out. He's spent the money to give the players the best they need it appears. He really feels like he's probably an owner you actually can agree with as a fan/player. But the results aren't there and thats gotta be frustrating for everyone involved. Because when you looked at other teams that have been inconsistent over last 2 decades and/or even struggle to compete much of timeframe they contain many of the aformentioned issues that the Jaguars tend to lack.

12:34 Did you forget that Bill O'Brien as a HC (Not a GM) had a winning record 5 of his 6 full seasons. On top of that he made the playoffs 4 times and once each with Brian Hoyer and Brock Osweiler at QB. Bill is a good HC with playoff potential he just needs to keep out of the GM game. If they can fire Baalke and find a good GM available somewhere then I think Bill could do well with a great young talent like T Law.

If Team X just had drafted Superstar Player Y, then things would be different. Those teams have a way of avoiding players like that, almost as if they can smell victory but would rather eat defeat. The two greatest missteps the Jaguars ever made was to fire Tom Caughlin.... TWICE ! Jack Del Rio ended David Garrard's career inexplicably, and damn near ruined Blaine Gabbert by throwing him to the wolves prematurely. I don't know why Blake Bortles was released, but he always seemed promising to me. Must've been something terrible. But if the Jaguars bring in Byron Leftwich, they'll be drinking the cool-aid all over again.

9:15 See he was rehearsing for a play. joking aside, honestly I didn't think Urbie was going to be as terrible as he was. I didnt think he was going to good and would last 2 seasons, but I didnt think he was going to crash and burn like he did. I really think that Nick Saban and Bobby Patrino would be welcomed back in the NFL with open arms b/c of how bad Meyer was. The ramifications of Urban Meyer's time in Jacksonville are just beginning. I think he effectively burned this franchise to the ground for the foreseeable future.

Let's not forget Khan also owns Fulham FC as well. When the Jaguars suck and lose a ton of games they get rewarded with a high draft pick. When a team in the Premier League is terrible and loses they get fucking relegated to the second tier of English football. Fulham is no tiny club either. They're a London based team with a decent cadre of supporters. Some of the greatest American players in soccer history played there. McBride and Dempsey are folk heroes at Fulham. That team is mismanaged as well. The previous owner put up a fucking Michael Jackson statue outside Craven Cottage and the fans nearly lost it. Now the team just manages to yo-yo back and forth between the Premier League and EFL Championship. Association football isn't like the American sports. You can't draft your next star player. You either develop them at your academy or buy from another team. Fulham isn't doing either anytime soon.
