Following instructions from the web I do the process but instead of it loading the file I get a red screen with the letters NG. on it... Any idea what it is that I am doing wrong?

I would also like to comment that audio quality using Carplay is noticeably worse than disabling that and using the old iPod audio interface instead. My unit was wired to my Mercedes CLK350 via speaker output (not the preout since it the volume was unacceptably low in that configuration). But at low volume music over Carplay is extremely grainy. Even when Siri is invoked, you hear distinct audio pops. And yes, I upgraded to the latest firmware.

You may want to contact Kenwood about that. They were replacing some units with noise while in CarPlay. Your may be one.

Simple question: I can get this unit or the Alpine ILX-207 for the same price. I know this was double the MsRP. I’ll run an amp through it. Is one better overall in terms of sound quality?

Sorry. Last question. Could you list the differences between the DNX893S & the DNX994S? Or possibly do a video comparing them? Any better performance / faster processor in the 994?

+THEno1SonicFan yes the 994 has a fast processor, a better new audio section( sound totally different) new USB outputs( it has real USBs now) the USB 2 actually works now, a new user menu. The one thing they removed was the HDMI input.

Ali Nawaz yeah sounds good. Kenwood does use Garmin, it is the same system that comes in the hand held units. Pioneer does make the own.

I just bought this unit last week. I've seen you control an iPhone via another Kenwood's touch screen using the Lightning-HDMI Adapter and Screen Mirroring (controlling Waze in particular). Can you confirm that this will also work on the DNX893s in Screen Mirroring mode as well? I really need Waze to be directly controllable on my dash!

I have a 2005 silvarodo with bose im go to put a kenwood 693s or a 893s in I want to use the wire harness so I can keep factory amp to run the factory subs but im going to put in a alpine pdx f-4 with alpine spr 50c speakers so l will be doing away with factory speaker wires to the doors will this work? and ill still have factory amp running the factory subs just to give it a little more bass

Richard Harris I would not do this, I would go with the PDX-v9 5 channel and run everything.

Kenwood does offer Garmin navigation if you like that. There are both very similar, I recommend playing with both to see what make sense to you.

+Dougie Fresh the camera needs an Accessory power to work properly. That is a power that turns on and off with the key.

Grrr. I had this unit installed about three years ago and *just* realized the buttons are supposed to be illuminated. I've always thought this was a huge oversight by Kenwood but the unit was clearly defective out of the box or the shop damaged it during install.

Richard Harris it is a blue wire with a yellow stripe. There are 3 blue wires on the plug so be careful.

These new head units came so late it's essentially 6 months before new Models come out. Software is riddled with bugs especially with a maestro rr.

Five Star Car Stereo hdmi cable connector was not pushed in all the way due to it being to fat. Pushed it in further and it now works :-)

Your better off getting the ddx 9903s with out nav . The updates are 70 dollars every time you update . If you get a external gps from garmin you get free for life map updates and free traffic up dates . buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/on-the-road/automotive/garmin-driveassist-50lmt/prod524703.html . you even get a front cam with the Garmin DriveAssist™ 50LMT. and a place to hookup the rear camera . The money you save on updates will pay for this gps and you will always have the newest maps . scroll down on the link and look at all this unit does . Its better than the one in the radio .

Mickey Gaming unlike Pioneer who seems to come out will new single dins every 6 months, no. They have gone to a two or three year life on the high end radios. It kind of sucks, but the main reason is that market is shrinking. What we need are higher end double din non video radios.
