I currently have a MCC222 McIntosh power Amplifier in my daily. This 2 channel beauty was bench tested at 129 watts per channel..! I love it! The top glass/plastic has a few tiny scratches, but it plays beautifully!! Now it's going on the shelf..

Great bit on the Frank Mac Daddy's company...back in the 70's before he retired they offered a Lifetime warranty which was the proven earmark of an elite item... Mac's also powered Woodstock and other Festivals... I remember later when I traded my 71 Harley in at Farrows of Columbus (US Oldest Dealer) they offered a Mac with the ride ! I appreciate when I watch the old school stuff so I thank you D n F and The Wiz...because I was one of the 1st car installers with Columbus Car Audio back in the early 70's and it was a rush to see the MC 420 come back home to you!

I had a 4000m in my S-10 blazer. I ran 3 JL audio 10 W6's and MB quart components. I loved it. Had it about 2 months till it was stolen.

I still use the amps i bought 18 years ago. Caliber competition CA240 2x120 watts @ 4ohm and bridged 240 watts @ 4ohms. These Amps are still playing in my car 100watts MTX combo Front and 80watts MTX Coaxial Rear. Also 1 Rockford P2 sub. 3 Amps total. AWESOME........ :-) 720Watts Rms.

Truly the holy grail of amps for you dean, if i could retrieve one lost piece of my audio history it would be a pair of Fosgate Power HX2 DVC 12" subs with my BD1500 from 2000. won me a couple DB Drags in my state (Idaho) back then.

One of my first killer amps was the soundstream continuum! Loved that amp and it ran my components and 2 10” alpine type R subs really well and sounded clean, but man was it huge by today’s standards lol. Great video and thanks for the throw back!

Many years ago I was on holiday in Orlando and brough back to the UK an original SoundStream reference 405 - which was an awsome amp, think that they got bought out eventually, but this was one hell of a powerfull unit. I had it couples to Alpine Head unit and Infinity Speakers. really miss that setup, but I'm now copying one of your installs - The Focal / AudioControl into a Mustang !!

I miss the a/d/a 346is speakers both 2-way and 3-way still to this day one of the best sounding speakers ever. Sold them all day long for $1,000 per pair for the 6-1/2 comp with tweets and crossover. I also miss the clarion dxc-935 it’s was a dual face sq radio that had a awesome volume knob and tones of eqing and processing. I still run the clarion dxz-835 with dual 24 but dacs I have three of them still. Still the best sound deck I have ever had with the exception being the 935 witch still to this day I want one. Also the xtant 1.1 some of the first mono full rang amps. Only 100x1 but run 4 or 6 of them one to each speaker. I still have one that’s going in my truck here soon

Doug Bernard from sound man (KZbin channel) has a McIntosh system in his custom VW Mule. And I believe he has McIntosh amps in his thunderbird..

I still have a Denon DCA-3400. I installed it in one of my first cars back in 1987 first with an Alpine and then Harman Kardon head unit and a Becker Speaker Box. The speaker box was stolen and the HK head unit while sounding great was a piece of crap mechanically. When I sold the car I took the amp out and have kept it in its original box ever since. With the manual, styrofoam and plastic bag. Last time (a few years ago) I opened it up it looked perfect inside and when I fired it up it was working perfectly.

Punch 100... Punch 40 with Cerwin Vega Subs using aperiodic damping and original MB Quart components with Pioneer DEH-780 head unit. That was the dream sound system back in the day!

I bought a brand new MC420M along with an extra EQ module and the dealer programmer for $350 back in 2005 from a shop. It lived in a display case for it's entire life before I bought it off a clearance table. It was such a beautiful amp but I never installed it. I sold all of it on ebay a couple months after I bought it for a $800 profit.

Who remembers A/D/S ??? I haven't used their products , but my buddy had a nice 1984 Honda Accord with a custom installed system ! He had bought the car from one of his buddies and it was a sick system ! An Alpine 7618 was the head unit , no internal amplification and was a tape deck with Dolby C , dude the cassettes sounded better than Cds . I miss the old school car Audio . Especially the A/D/S stuff !💪😎👍

my buddy just sold his two weeks ago, SE 6100 fully refurbished by a 70 year old audio tech. I wanted to buy it but 900 CDN was out of my reach at the time. I think he got about 750 US, we never even got to hear it as he sold it as soon as he got it back. They were so revolutionary at the time, one of the first to stray from Class A/B and had a DSP in the mid 90s.

In the 90s l ways wanted to have one of the planet audio tube amps , in the 2000s a eclipse premium 4 chanel . And of course a nakamichi cd500 head unit . Never got them but recently I did find a linear power 901 amp it was cool now sits on a shelf as I try learn about dsp and looking to soon get my first dsp

Reatore it, restore it, restore it! I still want 3 of those. Soundman runs them. You have to find a repair shop. Orion/ADS. I have two pair of the NT5's, 1 pair of OZ matrix 5's and a pair of Orion xtr6 components. Those speakers would love those amps.

I collect the old amps I couldn't afford in the 90's when I see them cheap, still use a lot too. the bucket list amps are McIntosh, Blade, KLW, US Amps and one of the rare tube amps. Still looking for another Rodek RA150 or the RA2300 to have a monster Rodek old school build.

i had the pleasure at a car show of sitting in a 5 series bmw that had these amps and Bowers and wilkins matrix mids and tweets in a custom pod that raised out of the dash, most amazing thing i ever heard and ignited my hifi obsession. this was about 1995, i think the car ended up in CAE a few months later.

The car was owned by Earl Zausmer. He was running Milbert tube amps on the B&W speakers with a Zapco amp running the 13" subs in the footwells.

In addition to those you mentioned, Linear Power, D'Amore Engineering, Helix, Mosconi, and Zuki. Maybe uDimension, Arc Audio, and Zapco, too. But that's probably about it. Oh, and how could I forget Milbert! Milbert makes the single finest car audio amplifiers ever made, by anyone.

McIntosh was mostly Clarion components back in these amp days. It’s like Lamborghini is an Audi. I had the single din McIntosh head unit in 1994. It had Clarion markings on it.

@@g.dubyou6263 I understand that. A Mac 4000 HU was basically a refaced Clarion 7770 with a few internal differences. The amps however were separate designs except for the Power Guard circuitry and that they were manufactured in the same build house.

@@g.dubyou6263 that they did, but still 2 separate designs. The APA2100/4200/4400 along with the G series amps the following year are the only ones to employ the Power Guard circuitry. That was the only thing, other then build house, that they have in common. But it's very easy to think otherwise.

Yes and no. Clarion made most of the McIntosh car audio gear. The licensed the name back when McIntosh was going bankrupt. So Clarion used the name to sell premium stereos to Subaru. In 2018 ish. That agreement came to an end. McIntosh announced their own line of Car Audio. Probably not made by them either though. Also its more expensive than anything else in car audio. Makes Audison and Marconi seem like chump change.

@@raptuous They did come back with their own premium oem systems in 2018 or something. They are most definitely in the high end aftermarket section as well. Its likely two different products. One made by Jeeps suppliers with McIntosh slapping their name on it. The second for the same money in boutique car audio distributors that are made a lot better. Same thing Clarion did.
