Just wanted to say thank you for this video. I've never commented on a video, but this is probably the most helpful video I've run across on KZbin. I have a 2006 Silverado 1500 paired with a Kenwood double din radio and backup cam. The instructions that came with the kenwood were not very helpful. I watched this video 5+ times to figure out what I needed to do and saved money from having professional install. Everything has been installed for 3 months and no issues. Thanks again for all your help! I know this video has not only helped me, but tons of others as well. Thanks again!

Great Job as usual! Here's a question. I have the Bose setup already, and honestly it sounds pretty decent to me the way it is. But I would like to improve the whole system using the least invasive process as possible. What are you're thoughts? I would like to just throw in a regular single din head unit. So I imagine I have to follow the same process with the RP4 right? After that is done, can I replace all the factory Bose speakers to similar after markets and get some improvement? Or do you think that could mess something up? Not sure if the Bose speaker setup works with various impedances/loads, etc. on the factory amp? Let me know what you think. thx.

Just did my05 Monte Carlo. What a joke, and that PAC RP5 interface made all my speakers less than half volume and all distorted and crackling. I bypassed one speaker from the interface and that one sounded great, so I sent the interface back and got a basic harness and a steering wheel control harness and made it work. No chimes, factory amp, but it sounds great. Idk why everyone says you need an interface to bypass the amp. I just left it hooked up and every speaker works fine. Amp not working but leaving it plugged in makes the speaker connection. New stereo pushes more watts so the amp isn’t a big deal

I'm using this exact setup, 06 GMC sierra w/bose, pioneer AVH-W4500NEX, and RP-4. The micro bypass specifically states to only connect it to the radio only, am I supposed to connect it to the rp-4 harness as well? Also does the pioneer ignition (red) get powered off the RP-4 relay (red)? There's no standard red ignition wire included on the RP-4 harness.Also is there a reason you didn't use the speed signal? Thanks for the help! Your videos are awesome 👍

Hope you can help. I have a 01 chevy tahoe. The factory amp is behind the glove box. I installed a aftermarket stereo a few years ago and worked fine. My factory amp does not work anymore. I do have the accessory wire from the stereo wired in to the factory harness. Pink wire on the plug that is not used anymore. My question is. If I bypass the amp as show in the video you did on the red avalanche. Will the factory subwoofer still work? Or is there another bypass that needs to be done? I do have the bypass kit like in your video

Not sure if this is monitored still but just purchased a 2004 yukon denali with typical pain in arse things to install a aftermarket head unit steering wheel controls, rear DVD and radio, Bose, on star. I already have a jvc double din from previous truck that got totaled. It has bluetooth etc. Question is the RP5 GM11 the best one for the job? And by having steering wheel controls and a mic for hands free, do you just use a y spliter? Not really concerned with on star but my truck has a mic in headliner for onstar

Question: I ordered the same RP5-GM11 Class 2 data-bus with 24pin and 12pin harness. I have Bose system and want to keep my steering wheel controls but the only problem I have is that I don’t have the front and rear RCA cables like you have. Looks like I only have a red and white male connectors. I noticed you have 4. I don’t know if they have different versions and do I need them.

I have the RP 5GM 11. I am installing an aftermarket, subwoofer and amp but I’m still using the door speakers and tweeters at the moment until I decide what speakers I will install there. Do I need to bypass the amplifier since I’m using aftermarker for subwoofer? I was going to just retain amplifier with the sub said it would powered the door still head out a little bit of extra power until I get upgrade but then I started taking will it interfere with the subwoofer and the mono amp. I also saw that there is an RCA input, which I do not think I actually have anyway, but for the Bose system to be plugged into the back of the head unit which my mono amp needs. to cause any electrical issues. They don’t see any instructions on that particular scenario.
@Jeff-gu6nb3 жыл бұрын
Wait. So the steering wheel controls are part of the 24-pin adapter? Which pin/wire is the swc? I feel like this could work with a separate 3.5mm male input into a stereo that had the custom button input

Present Radio Pioneer AVIC W8500NEX I know this video is from 2 years ago. But if your not going to retain Onstar couldn't you just splice into the factory Onstar microphone and use that one. That's what I did and it's been working great I have had no problems with calls or anything. As far is it 2 USBs I repurposed the 12v outlet thats on the passenger side with a 2 port dual USB 3.0 male to USB 3.0 female Aux flush mount. And the HDMI with a male to female car flush mount extension cable.

I have a question, I have my 03 Silverado, and I bought a real nice boss audio double din radio, I don’t have the Bose system so I just went with the harness adapter, all the wiring is done correctly, but the radio will not turn on, to make sure I did it right, I hooked the accessory wire to the constant and it powered up and played music just fine, but when it’s wired correctly it won’t come on, I’d hate to have to rip out the radio every time I need to shut it off, any pointers?

So I'm confused. I installed a Pioneer unit and an RP5 module in my 2006 Silverado (non Bose, with OnStar, with steering wheel controls). Everything works perfect. But I never connected a remote turn on wire to the module...only used the remote turn on from the Pioneer harness to go an amplifier. If I recall, I capped the blue/white wire off on the rp5 harness. Where would the remote turn on wire go into the module? Or is the rp4 different with this?
