I would first inspect the metal tip of the sensor. If it is all cruded up, I would clean it . Put it back in and check to see if the ABS light goes off after driving the vehicle before buying a neew sensor.

A good idea, no doubt. I had already inspected it while replacing brake pads and the rotor, and made sure it was clean. I drove around too long with the light on.

I'm pretty sure ABS was optional or not included on 1st gen Tundras from 00-01-02 but comes stock on all 03-04-05-06. I could be wrong but I've seen it stated in a few places.
@gdupler19662 жыл бұрын
Good point! Yes, ABS was optional from 00 to 02. From what I have read, limited version had it and some others.

@@gdupler1966 Yep, and I assume it would be more common on the 4wd models.

Hello there! Quick question: 1)how many miles do you get out of a full tank I noticed your gas gauge showed almost a full tank but you had gone 78 miles My 2004 DC tundra with 215k miles barely goes 180-200 miles on a full tank 2.5” lift 33s I noticed whitish exhaust (? Running too rich?) I’ve changed the MAF sensor Oxygen sensors Spark plugs and wires Cleaned the injectors Still approx 10 mpg I’ve heard some guys get 16-18mpg I’ve also heard the 2004 DC gearing is 4:10 which could be the problem Today I replaced the Vapor Canister Purge valve/canister

Great video brother, I bought my 2004 Toyota Tundra for my cousin and the squirrels did some serious damage to the wiring I just traced the wiring from the sensor on the front right hand side and found they were completely chewed through I just reconnected them disconnected the battery to let it reset I'm going to drive it around and see if it goes off my issues a little bit more difficult because my speedometer is not working I already replaced the vehicle speed sensor on the driver side of the tranny and that still didn't cut it

Thanks for the kind words! I don't envy you with the wiring issues. It may be good to pick up a new speed sensor and some other wiring harnesses from the junkyard as they rarely go bad without animals.

@@gdupler1966 ended up being chewed wires to the front passenger wheel speed/abs sensor. Reconnected those two wires and viola!

FYI, beware of Intermotor brand replacement sensor, the drivers side had brackets stamped with a R (for right hand?), i had to reuse the old rusted ones.

I have a 2006 Tundra Limited. My ABS light is not on, but when i back up sometimes and turn certain ways may brakes seem to slip??? You get that ABS slipping noise. Wonder if the sensors are the issues? Ever heard of that?
@gdupler19663 жыл бұрын
What I would do if I were you: check the rear brakes to make sure they are adjusted correctly; then pull the abs sensors to clean them and make sure they are seated properly. See if that helps.

Did you notice any brake shuddering at low speeds, like when coming to a stop? My dads 2002 tundra has an abs light on and I’ve cleaned the speed sensors, greased calipers but still has a light. He’s gonna drive it for awhile to see if the problem goes away.
@gdupler19663 жыл бұрын
I did notice that when the pads and rotors were worn. I replaced them and then the abs light came on. I thought it might be the sensor but couldn't confirm without the right scan tool. Have you used a scan tool on your dad's Tundra?
@mumfordalien17943 жыл бұрын
@@gdupler1966 my scan tool doesn’t do abs, we checked the rotors and pads, the rotors are fine and the pads are new. I think the rotors have already been replaced at some point since the truck has 200k miles. Maybe we need to have someone check the abs system with the right scan tool.
@gdupler19663 жыл бұрын
@@mumfordalien1794 Yes, I agree. Start with an abs scan tool and go from there, especially since you have already replaced the pads and rotors.
