I'm the author of my own pack. This DID NOT fix my problem. What "programming changes" were made that breaks resource packs? And what do I need to change to make it work. Make THAT video please?

What's needed to fix a pack changes with every new version, and several times depending on how many mid-version updates there are. It also depends on how the individual pack is created and what version it was originaly created for. So no way to easily make a vide on that. But I can show you where to keep an eye on programming changes. Open the Minecraft Launcher (the official one, not one of the 3rd party launchers) and click on Patch Notes. This gives information on everything that has changed for each snapshot. You will need to read through all of this and see if anything has changed that would affect what you have in your custom pack.

If you are trying to fix a downloaded pack then it probably has programming that needs to be updated by the author.

Hey! So I updated the pack from 1.8 following your method, however it still won't load properly. It'll load it and it's not red, as if it's all good but then doesn't work. It's just a simple connected quartz pack, and there is a .properties file. Does that need to be changed at all as well? Also I subscribed!

I haven't done anything with 1.8 in years but I am betting that the code in the 1.8 pack is no longer compatible with 1.12, in which case this fix will not be enough and the pack will need to be recoded for 1.12.

@@HTGGeorge Yup I actually got it with the help of ChatGPT LOL. It told me that the BlockID system had changed a lot so instead of 155:0 being quartz, it would instead just be: quartz_block

I downloaded a resource pack for an older version and I went and changed the format from 15 to 34. The issue is that the resource pack appears normally in the pack window however I do not see its effects in the game.

If the pack uses coding that has been updated since version 15 the pack will need to be rebuilt by the author. MC 1.20 and 1.21 both had a lot of programming updates. This fix works for every pack I show how to make on my channel. Old downloaded packs will probably need more than just this.

so on resource pack there is custom model with custom textures, and as model loads, texture and animations on it doesnt, so its just nice model with placeholder texture, is there way to fix it up?

i have the same problem on mobile, it says that the texture pack has a problem or need to be redownloaded or i need to restart the game.. i tried various methods, stil lit doesn't work.

Unfortunately I don't do mobile, so I don't have an exact answer. But, if the pack is a downloaded one you may need to get a new version from the pack creator. There were lots of programming changes in 1.21 and if the pack you are using was affected by those programming changes it will need to have the programming updated to work with 1.21. This simple fix won't be enough.

Depends on the resource pack you are trying to update. This works for everything I show how to do on my channel. But if you are trying to convert a downloaded pack then the pack probably has advanced coding that will need to be updated also.

I've done all of that, even before clicking on the video. I came here because absolutely nothing changed inside the game. For some reason my hotbar gui and crosshair which are both different in my pack didn't change in the game at all and I have no idea why

First make sure the pack is loading correctly and that you didn't save it as .rar, needs to be .zip. Next if this is a downloaded pack then it may be out of date. If you made it yourself then double check everything, sometimes real small spelling errors that are hard to spot break a pack. And lots of graphics changed 1.20 and 1.21. If you made your pack using an older vanilla resource pack you should make it again using the latest vanilla pack.

Minecraft added a complete new system of sorting there things. This also includes things like the health or hunger bar. The most converter will only change the "pack format number" that indicants the version the texture pack is written to, that will most likely be the problem. To this day I could find a single converter that converts the older sorting system to the new one, so the only things you could do it manually changing every png yourself or wait until someone creates a converter that also converts the sorting system.

@@Semjl The problem in my pack was that in some version they had every hunger and heart texture in 1 image but then they changed it to be in a whole different folder to be seperate textures

I get the Ressource reload failed on mod loaders like quilt or fabric. versions are okay. hardware fine too. any idea for that, since it wasnt a problem on 1.20?

Make sure you update Quilt or Fabric to 1.21. Then check to see if your pack has been updated by the author. There were some programming changes in 1.21 and if the pack has anything in those areas it will need to be remade to match the new programming.

@@HTGGeorge yes it says that on the download too (stay true 1.21.1) other Ressource packs work. If I load minecraft without modloaders the Pack works fine on the 1.21. But as soon as I use a modloader it gives me the error

It doesn't work with Pure BDCraft... I dont have money to support the hack to use the 1.21 version so I have to use the 1.20 version but it's still glitched after this. If you know a way to fix it, please let me know. Thanks

Advanced packs like PureBDCraft need to be reprogrammed by their creator since they have programming that was changed in the new version. This fix works great if you made the pack yourself and works for every pack I show how to create on my channel.

It depends on which version of Minecraft you are playing. Format 9 was correct for Minecraft 1.19 through 1.19.1. If that is what you are playing then the format is correct. I have been seeing a lot of downloaded packs that no longer work in 1.21.1. Lots of programming changes in this update and fancier packs will need to be reprogrammed to work with 1.21. All of the packs I show how to make on my channel can be updated with this trick.
