AA kicks in on top of the target in INF. AA kicks in AROUND the target in every other Halo/Destiny. This is the biggest difference, more so than any setting.

Facts. I have been enjoying Halo Infinite now that I have adjusted to it, but I tried to go back and play 5 and now I suck at it. First halo to ever feel different.

Went from a great halo player to trash once I picked up the elite controller. Exact issue ZERO aim assist, the sticks felt jumpy and off balanced. Changed my settings according to your video and now I have some aim assist. Great information, can’t believe what a difference this makes. Thank you

These for sure help a bit, but it also confirms for me something is borked with the game itself. Something still needs to be done on 343's end with this. It's super weird this problem 100% doesn't exist on MCC PC. They should should bring how aim works on 3 or reach mcc over to INF. Either way big thankees, this has made it at least somewhat playable for me.

I've been jacking with my settings (and complaining about aim) since the beta. I have it pretty dialed in now so I can get close to 60% accuracy, but I never though to it was because of the Elite controller. I'll have to play with those xbox controller settings now. Excited to test that out. I will say that I saw the biggest boost in accuracy by changing my FOV to 120. My aim assist "feels" significantly higher at max FOV. I've never used an expanded FOV in games, but in Infinite it makes a huge difference for me personally.

My Xbox accesories app doesnt show the top buttons to change triggers ad everything else. Can only change the mapping same way you can through the xbox. Maybe this is only possible with a Elite controller?

Yes. The elite controllers app is different than the regular one. They look the same though, both use the same accessories app.

I’m having issues with my elite 2 as well. The theory I currently have is that the computer/infinite sees the elite 2 inputs as a m&k. Watch your device manager when connecting the controller. You can also see it in bluetooth devices and other. It will populate a Xbox controller as well as a HID Keyboard. Both have aim assist works either way, but way more noticeable when controller aim assist kicks in.

Axis independent is the original setting as well as what every non elite controller is. I believe most games are made with it in mind. You are probably liking true diagonal due to where your in game deadzones and stuff are. T.D. gives a sort of increased axial deadzone which you probably had too little of to use radial. Generally radial is intended for use of alternate curve mappings, and i believe t.d. is intended for certain pc game config (especially older ones). Id highly suggest that everyone start every new game with axis and only swap if something feels off, they use an alt curve map, or the in game settings don't allow enough customization. I have tested extensively for far too long and tried far too many controllers. There just isn't enough good info on these so i had to grind. I'll end here with 2 things unless prompted as i believe i can be helpful and save people some worm hole grind. 1 is that I don't think the best option for infinite is t.d. ( tho i think with all the settings at our disposal all 3 could become manageable). 2 an interesting fact i noticed late is that in infinite, axis independent gives you tighter more agile control over your movement. See for yourself with some strafe testing. After realizing this, all 3 of my infinite options have axis for left stick. Basically id rather have the most acute and thorough input signal and then dial it back in game if i want to. dampen it.

I know this is 4 months old but just saw this video (and was super helpful Hollowtide, TY!) but to the commenter here: for my curiousity, why Axis Independent over True Diagonals? I, like Hollow, have headcased for a LONG time in Infinite while using and Elite series 2 and had always used Radial with the default curve in the accessory settings. Now, after wathing this video and reading your comment, I am trying axis independent but was curious as to why you favor axis over radial. Thanks!

I feel the exact same type of way after buying a series X controller for my PC. I was doing realy good on One's controller but now I can't hit a single shot even against bots. I don't have the elite and therefore can't change curve. Does anyone have another solution ?

Question for you as I can’t find anything online about a fix for this… I’m playing on controller on PC and I notice that if I don’t click the main menu with my controller and do it with my mouse then I lose aim assist completely. Is this a bug still in the game? This happened to me when the game first came out. And I don’t know how to fix it besides completely closing out my game and relaunching it. I’m using a PS5 Dualsense edge controller.

I haven’t had any problem with aim assist until this most recent update. Now my crosshair moves around the screen, WHEN NO ENEMY IS IN MY SIGHT. And then when there actually IS an enemy, it’s constantly moving away from it. It’s annoying as hell

I just switched from XBOX to PC and couldn't for the life of me figure out why my exact settings on XBOX were not working on PC. I'm going to test these tonight and I'll follow up later with an update to let you know if this worked for me. Apparently PC does not like XBOX controllers... or least Steam doesn't.

The reason you're now getting the aim assist tracking when you're just standing still is because you now have some drift. If there is no input from either stick there is no AA. So if you're standing still and have zero stick drift, you will not have any AA. The second you start moving either stick you will have AA. Your changes are likely helping your improve mainly because it's a personal preference, as the only guaranteed benefit from your settings change is that you will get aim assist when standing still and not even touching either stick, which obviously is an unlikely scenario in game. Glad you found settings that work for you, as they are truly unique to everyone and there are no "right" settings.

so normally aim assist is only supposed to be active when either of your joysticks are seeing movevment- the fact that youre seeing it lock onto the bots without touching the sticks is not normal.

Its because he has the smallest amount of stick drift which is causing the AA to always be active. It is what all the pros do also

the fact that you said 40% accuracy on controller is below expectations and you have managed to do 50% consistently makes me wanna cry. I am a MNK player (i would rate myself better than average, not a pro in any case) and for me to do 40% accuracy in a game I have to sweat my pants off, like hard hard sweat. Best ever game maybe a lo 50% For controller players to assume they should be hitting like 60% accuracies i dont know where that comes from. in my honest opinion, if this game wants to succeede in any way possible it has to aim for the biggest FPS community, PC players; when PC players are hardly outplayed by controllers you cant expect for people to stay and grind. Solution: reduce aim assist until accuracy levels are similar in all CSR rankings. Still one input better? reduce more.Still? more... the solution of giving mnk aim assist is so lazy and making people worse in other FPS...

@@Hollowtide yes i have, i believe i am one of the 100 MNK players left in this game. Try to play some Diamond Onyx ranked with MNK then you tell me your experience even with the MNK aimassist. I know i can play at range and adapt my gamestyle, but why should I? the ammount of 4 shot battles you have to do once you pass diamond is absurd and beyond human possibility. Developers are quite OK with that unfortunatelly. Again at this state, who would grind MNK? what incentive? none, the opposite even is true.

Wht they need to do is disable it completely. Aim assist is basically aim bot in this game, and it's totally unfair against mnk players. It's bad. I get, on average 78% accuracy on controller, and under 50% on mnk. So why don't I play on controller then? Because it's no fun at all to have the game play for you. Disable aim assist!!!
