Too bad removing the finger print isn't an option. If the finger print sensor isn't working, it locks you out of the ability to change your finger print.

I have a Samsung galaxy A12 and the fingerprint sensor stopped working and when I go into settings and press "Fingerprints" a thing pops up on the bottom of my screen that says something like "finger print sensor not working, restart your phone if this keeps happening." This fixed my issue! (But left locked out of my bank’s mobile app 😂) thank you so much! It got fixed when I deleted my 4 year old fingerprint on my phone.

Sony 5. 1 year old. The sensor stopped work yesterday. Tried to add a fingerprint but the software didn't allow me, got some error message. After restart the fingerprint menu had dissapeared. In the hidden hardware/software checks the fingerprint wasn't present. Seems like the hardware is broken.

If you can't open the fingerprint settings because "The sensor isn't working", just reboot to recovery mode and wipe the cache partition, then restart. It should do the trick.

@@paul_s7970 reboot while holding the volume up key. When you're in the recovery, use the volume keys and power button to navigate and select Wipe cache partition, then confirm.

Well, restarting the phone (LG V30) does work sometimes. But lately not so much. And when it doesn't there is no way of finding the fingerprint setting (as if it's not installed). As for the update don't bother as there isn't one, we all know that Android is rubbish with updates. I haven't had an update since Jan 19... WTF

Did everything in the video. Registered 5 fingerprints, deleted them, and registered them again. Every time I try to unlock the phone with a fingerprint it says "no match". What else can I try?

if you can't access the fingerprint settings because it is saying the sensor is not working, go to apps and click the sort button and show system apps then you have to force stop and clear the data of small size system apps like automation test. works on a12

This did absolutely nothing for me. I think my fingerprint sensor needs to be replaced because every time I try to use it, it keeps telling me to contact the customer center.
