18/10/21 I live alone and water has been leaking into my toilet pan for sometime without my knowledge. I spoke to the only plumber who called me (they are all busy) and quoted £375 for a new toilet, as what you just showed was impossible to do! Thank you. I just want to turn the water off until a proper plumber returns my call, but you have really helped me! "I am a 77 year young female plumber to be!"

The part costs £7-£45 you can get a decent one that you will find in most toilets for £15 the job should take no more than an hour. I did mine which was in an awkward situ it took me little over 10 minutes. The only tool I used was an adjustable spanner you might need a screwdriver too.

Just on tip you never mentioned, when you replace the flush valve you must look at the old one and take the name and number, you need to get exacty the same one to fit the other part of the fitting which is below the close coupled with. If you buy the wrong one you will have to take the world pan and the cistern apart to fit the flush valve. So when your correct flush valve arrives from eBay it's simple to turn into the bottom fitting. You will then have a spare bottom fitting which will come with the flow valve. Good luck

Perfect video for my problem - toilet running continuously. Exactly as you highlighted, the flush valve wasn’t relocating correctly and despite cleaning it the problem continued. A visit to the plumbers merchant with the entire unit and a replacement slotted straight back in and the issue was resolved. Cost £18.32. Time taken to remove and refit 10 minutes. At the plumbers merchants remember to specify whether the toilet is push-button or lever operated as the mechanisms are not interchangeable. A big thumbs up for clear concise instructions, they certainly gave me the confidence to have a go.

So delighted I chose your video to watch. From your advice I could identify the issue was to Flush Valve. Lacked the strength to release it but felt down the bottom for the "gap" to test the plunger. Moved it up and down several times and maybe that released some muck but whatever it appears right now to have solved it. One happy lady wanted to share her appreciation. No plumber required.

I don't know if you still read comments, but you've just helped me out so much. Could not find a video that showed the components that we have in our toilet, but this video shows just that! And because of this video I was able to fix the overflowing issue we've had and it only cost me £17 for the part compared to what would have been probably quadruple that to get a plumber to do it. Thank you so much for this!

just what i needed to know! thankyou, things are working perfectly now! The trickiest bit was the flush valve removal-- finding the centre of the clicks to withdraw it - a mirror on a stick was really helpful to see where the plastic locator was positioned relative to the exit slot..

Thanks for this brilliant video. I got a plumber out to look at my trickle-leaking toilet and he quoted me a price so ridiculous - getting special replacement parts and what have you - that I might as well just buy a brand new toilet. After watching this video I managed to remove the flush valve housing and the seal was full of blisters almost all around so no wonder it leaked. I punctured all of them with a needle, which helped something like 90%, but I have of course ordered a genuine Geberit seal now, delivered to my door in 3 days for £3.00. Might be looking for a new plumber in the future.
@Artexic3 жыл бұрын
Glad to hear the video helped you understand the issue better J F. Sorry to hear your plumber quoted a bad price. I hope the new seal works for you, if not as you saw the valve is not a big job. Thanks for sharing your experience. It's always nice to hear when a video helps understanding, and hopefully saves some money!
@_J.F_3 жыл бұрын
@@Artexic Thanks again. Just puncturing all the blisters in the old seal actually turned out to work 100% - not a drip coming through anymore - but I will of course replace it with the new seal when it arrives. I cannot believe how simple the fix was after having watched your video so you have genuinely made my day.
