Fix for wheel spin problems, COATS wheel balancers

Any idea about a coats 700 error code 3

My coats v200 all of a sudden would just spin 1/2 to 3/4 speed and wouldn’t stop. Sometimes it won’t but very rarely now. Coats mechanic said he thought maybe the inverter but he honestly had no true answer for me. Inverter seemed fine what do you think it could be?

I'm sorry but I don't have any experience with the V200. In the bit of looking I did it appears to use a one of two versions of a rotary style encoder 85009972 made by Baldor or 85610094 made by Emerson. Might make sure the encoder isn't slipping, that could cause erratic rotation speed though I would think a slipping encoder would cause an overspeed condition. Hope you get it figured out.

Great video! can you tell us about the error code you were showing please. I am getting a "No rotation signal-check motor & encoder fuction & wiring-- press stop - exit e3" I replace the micro hood switches already but I still have the same problem. When I lower hood it does not spin on my 1250D. Thank you for any support

Hi Manny, sorry for the delayed reply. That is the same code and symptoms I was getting on my 1400-2D, (Code Error 3- No rotation signal-check motor and encoder function & wiring). It would work sporadically when I lowed the hood and sometimes not at all. Other times it would even spin too fast or slow. All the wiring looked fine so I replaced the encoder 8110923 and that solved it. Hope its not your board, I'm sure that's expensive. How do you know its the board?

May I ask how you determined it was the encoder? My 700 is having “Err A” and “Err Hub” codes. Used to be random now it’s 90% of the time.

Hi rf14dmb, I don't have any experience with the 700 but on the coats machines I'm familiar with there are red indicator LEDs on the circuit board that flash in time with the shaft rotation. If these seem sporadic or inconsistent, its a good sign that the encoder is missing steps.

I purchased a1600 3d tire balancer from a auction it is just initializing and not starting up do you have any idea what it could be?

Motor in my ranger DST 2420 wont stop turning as soon as i turn on the machine ...dont have any idea on what the problem could be😢

Hi tonnygarcia2698, I don't have any experience with ranger balancers but I know a bad encoder caused my coats 1250 to spin uncontrollably at high rate of speed till I turned the power off. Sounds like it could be similar.

Hi umershahid, I'm sorry, that's not a problem I've encountered before so nothing definitive comes to mind. But, it sounds like it could be the display circuit board, I'd pull it out and inspect it for moisture or a visibly burned component. Hope that helps, Thanks,

Any idea about Error 4 this is coats 1050 Balancer

I don't have the codes for a 1050 but error code 4 on a 1250 is reverse spin. I'm not positive but I believe this could be caused by a faulty optical encoder. The 1050 parts manual does list the 8110923 encoder, same as the 1250

I replaced this same parts and my error 4 for my coats 1050 was gone. Thanks

What spinning issue did you have? Did it not stop or not spin

I believe it can cause both, but in some cases it can overspeed intermittently as the encoder misses steps.
